After an inaugural showing last year in Los Angeles (covered), it was only a matter of time before the BEYOND THE STREETS  hit what many consider one of the birth places of graffiti in the US. New York’s version of the exhibition (curated by Roger Gastman) celebrating graffiti, street art, and beyond once again featured a stunning roster of some of the most well known and seminal artists in the genre. Ranging from paintings, sculptures, photography, mural art to site-specific installations from 100+ artists, posting all the photos […]

Showing: Revok – “depersonalization-derealization” @ Library Street Collective

Last weekend in Detroit, Revok opened his latest solo show at Library Street Collective featuring selections from three distinctive bodies of work – his Instrument Exercises, Tape Loop Paintings, and Spirographs – along with some self portraits. Entitled depersonalization-derealization, the exhibition makes use of his graffiti roots but repurposed, oftentimes with custom tools for creating large scale abstract canvases. The title refers to a type of dissociative disorder, something that Revok experiences with the constant numbing onslaught of horrific news and media overstimulation. He further states – “I think the work […]

Currently showing in Detroit at Library Street Collective is a four person exhibition featuring contributions from Paul Kremer, Mark Flood, MOMO, and REVOK. Entitled Machine Show and curated by Kremer, the focus was on the unique art-making tools, processes, and methodology behind their work. On display are the organic abstractions from Kremer created by dropping paint on rotating easels of his own design, the signature lace paintings from Flood, examples of pieces created by MOMO’s Wall Eater winch which tears carefully arranged drawings from behind glued paper, […]

Showing: Revok – “SYSTEMS” @ Library Street Collective (Los Angeles)

Only showing through the end of the week is SYSTEMS from Revok at Library Street Collective’s new permanent location in Los Angeles. The collection of 17 new works see the infamous graffiti writer move in a more abstract direction while still maintaining an intriguing conceptual connection with his time on the streets. The exhibition marks a turn away from the increasingly complex wood assemblages he has become known for while heading towards a new freedom of working on canvas. Refreshing old concepts from his artistic roots, he has created […]

Entitled SYSTEMS, the new body of work will see the graffiti artist continue to push the boundaries of his work with more conceptual and experimental pieces while staying true to his artistic roots. An example of this utilizes one of […]

Featuring works by Maya Hayuk,  Cleon Peterson, Revok, and  Francesco Igory Deiana, the exhibition opened on May 18th and will stay on view through July 22nd. The idea of this show was to mix artists and their diverse styles into a fresh, attractive installation, similar to a Mint Julep cocktail, made by mixing bourbon, ice, sugar and mint into a refreshing drink. Viewers got to see Hayuk’s colorful, layered weave paintings that balance between tradition, psychedelic, strict […]
