Ron English x Simpsons Episode

Looks like the animated world of TV and our art world collide again (see Souther Salazar x Family Guy & Shepard Fairey x South Park). This time, it’s Ron English (featured) commissioned to create a variation on his Homer/Jackson Pollock motif – in 10 seconds. Make sure you check out The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special — In 3-D! Video: Ron English Mural @ Medicine Agency Gallery

In this video, we see Ron English (featured) painting another version of Picasso’s “Guernica” (outdoor version at Primary Flight) at the Medicine Agency Gallery. The mural, seen in the timelapse above was created to coincide with the release of his Mandala Grin puzzle being put out by TOTT Global. Via Ron English Juxtapoz blog. Discuss Ron English here.

Basel Week Miami ’09: Ron English – Primary Flight Mural

As Jeff Soto (covered) was busy creating his contribution to this year’s Primary Flight, AM favorite Ron English was busy working on a mural of his own. Another rendition of his classic “Guernica” tribute, Ron’s hand painted masterpiece features many of his most identifiable characters.  As an added bonus, Ron put up some new, colorful wheatpastes, something we haven’t seen him do in quite a while. When we heard about an exhibition that was to be curated by Elms Lester at the prestigious Atkinson Gallery in Somerset, it definitely stoked our interest. Openings: Ron English – “Immortal Underground” @ Opera Gallery

On Thursday night, AM attended the VIP opening of Ron English’s “Immortal Underground” at New York’s Opera Gallery. Nothing was spared as Ron’s infamous Cathy Cow Girl’s (courtesy of The Body of Art) arrived in a limo to kick off the opening night extravaganza. In attendance were many of NYC’s notables including Martha Cooper (interviewed), Aiko, Travis Louie (interviewed), Logan Hicks (interviewed), David Stoupakis, Fred Harper, Ally Hilfiger, Johanne Corno and Vincent Castiglia to name a few. Releases: Ron English – “Super Size Me” (Halloween Edition)

Ron English (featured) and Secret Base have a special treat for your Halloween celebrations. They have teamed up to to produce a limited edition “Super Size Me” figure from English, but this time, a Halloween skeletal edition.  The figure comes in two colors and will be available from Armth. Preview: Ron English – “Immortal Underground” @ Opera Gallery (New York)

As we mentioned yesterday, Ron English (featured) is looking for “cowgirls” for a special performance during the opening of his “Immortal Underground” exhibition.  Just half a year after his solo at Elms Lester (covered) and curating the “Nimbus Vapor” show (covered) earlier this month, he’s back with a new body of work on November 12th at the Opera Gallery in New York. For a certain subset of art fans, there is no greater joy than participating in the creation of art themselves. Friday night, AM had the pleasure of attending the preview opening of two shows at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery. Openings: Green Day – “The Art of Rock” @ StolenSpace

AM just got back from the opening of Green Day’s “The Art of Rock” show at London’s StolenSpace gallery (previewed), the night before the band starts a run of sold out dates on the UK leg of the 21st Century Breakdown Tour. Logan Hicks (interviewed) curated the group show, which consisted of 18 pieces of art inspired by the lyrics of the new album.
