Last night, AM attended the private viewing of Ron English (featured), latest exhibition “Status Factory”. With the sponsorship of Opera Gallery, the pop-up exhibition was held in an extravagant triplex retail space in the heart of New York’s Soho district. Our friend, Ron English (featured), is about to put forth a new body of works for a pop-up gallery show in the middle of Soho with the help of Opera Gallery. This special show will open on Sunday, September 12th at 382 West Broadway and will run until October 29th. Earlier this month, Last Rites Gallery in New York hosted “Lead Poisoning”, a group show that included a surprisingly strong list of participants. Artists like David Stoupakis, Eric White (interviewed), Glenn Barr, Ron English (featured), Chet Zar, Esao Andrews (interviewed), Chris Mars, Greg Simkins (interviewed), Robert Williams, Brian Despain (interviewed) and many others contributed drawings to exhibition. Rome’s Dorothy Circus Gallery and New York’s Jonathan Levine Gallery have joined forces to bring together some of the biggest names in the new contemporary scene for a museum exhibition in Italy entitled “Pop Surrealism”. It looks like pop art master, Ron English (featured), has been hard at work in Italy working on some murals. Here we see him painting his classic “Guernica” remix in Rome, but this time with a skeletal twist. He also hit up Milan with a Elvis double-vision piece (seen after the jump).
