Openings: Jonas Löfgren – “Lost and Found” & DoubleParlour – “Yearnville” @ Spoke Art

Opposite Luke Chueh’s signing last Thursday (covered), Sweden-based artist Jonas Löfgren and San Francisco-based husband & wife duo DoubleParlour opened up their joint show at Spoke Art. Although the artists were not familiar with each others works prior to the show, Jonas’s graphite drawings and DoubleParlour’s sculptures both share a playful yet slightly sinister and mischievous feel to it. Releases / Signings: Luke Chueh – “Bearing the Unbearable” @ Spoke Art

Last Thursday, Luke Chueh’s signing and sketch tour celebrating the release of his book – Bearing the Unbearable continued with a rare appearance in the Bay Area at Spoke Art (previewed). Preview: Luke Chueh – “Bearing the Unbearable” Signing @ Spoke Art

Tomorrow night (July 5th) in San Francisco, Luke Chueh (interviewed) will be continuing his Bearing the Unbearable book signing tour (see Los Angeles). Also, of interest to Bay Area fans will be the release of new prints from his popular sushi series of paintings, with the originals created for a 2009 showing in LA. Teaser: Meggs – “Truth in Myth” @ White Walls

After a showing in Asia, Australia-based painter Meggs heads west to San Francisco for his next solo exhibition set for July 14th. Entitled Truth in Myth, the new body of work looks to be a continuation of his recent imagery richly saturated with his chosen palette and renderings of fantastical creatures. ArtPadSF ’12 – “Highlights”

ArtPadSF hosted its second annual boutique art fair over the weekend, which coincides with ArtMrkt and SFFAF. Unlike your traditional art fair with booths, this one takes over the Phoenix Hotel in the heart of the Tenderloin District in San Francisco with each gallery taking up their own room in the hotel, which gives a more laid-back pop-up gallery vibe. ArtMRKT San Francisco ’12 – “Highlights”

artMRKT is one of the art fairs taking place in San Francisco over the weekend, with over 70 modern and contemporary galleries at the Concourse Exhibition Center. Openings: Samuel Lowder – “Time Machine” @ Shooting Gallery

Last Saturday evening, Shooting Gallery hosted the opening of Samuel Lowder aka Freprs’s exhibition entitled Time Machine. This ex-90’s graffiti artist has fully transitioned into creating pop art pieces incorporating layered stencils, with hidden details to be picked out when viewed closely.
