Here’s a first look at a pretty exciting project Scott Musgrove is working on with the Metalphysic Studio bronze foundry in Arizona. Look at these massive clay sculpts for what appear to be two pretty large-scale sculptures. Not sure when these be ready but maybe for his May 2010 show at Jonathan Levine? One can only hope. In a couple weeks, Takashi Murakami will be opening his solo show at Emmanuel Perrotin in Paris entitled “Takashi Murakami Paints Self Portraits.”  Murakami has been known to paint “self-portraits” in the past including his alter egos like Mr. DOB, Inochi, Mr. Pointy, Tan Tan Bo and Oval, but this time expect to see a set of self-portraits featuring the artist accompanied by his favorite characters. Teaser: Kris Kuksi – “Beast Anthology” @ Joshua Liner Gallery

AM just saw the one of the pieces from Kris Kuksi for his upcoming solo show at Joshua Liner Gallery and wanted to share it immediately with our readers.  This piece is entitled “The Temptation of St. Anthony,” which refers to the temptations faced by Saint Anthony the Great during his times in the Egyptian desert (a common subject in art and literature – probably the two of the most well-known, for us at least, were by Hieronymus Bosch and Salvador Dalí). We can’t wait […]

FAME Festival: Ericailcane and Word to Mother (Part II)

We recently brought you news of Ericailcane (here) and Word to Mother (here) painting murals at FAME Festival (full coverage here). The artists have since stepped into the studio to create a fantastic selection of artwork. We are loving these little ceramic sculptures by Ericailcane (above). For everyone who gets excited when Erica’s anthropomorphic creatures leap into the three-dimensional, now is the time to start jumping up and down, as there look to be quite a few little monkeys running around Grottaglie. Word To Mother […]
