Hauser & Wirth’s booth at Art Basel features a brand new body of work by highly respected artist Paul McCarthy.  The works are sculptural versions of work explored by the artist in his White Snow exhibition and features the dwarfs from, surprisingly, Snow White. They are made of various colored silicone and are unmistakeably McCarthy-esque. A set of these are rumored to be priced at $3million and a single dwarf is a more affordable $750,000. Art HK ’10: Overview

With Art HK 2010 in full swing, we start out by showing you a mix of things that caught our eye before focusing in on some artists that we like. Anticipation has been high for the annual international fair in what is becoming the “East meets West” cultural hub of the region, especially with more blue-chip galleries joining the scrum for the dollars of the increasingly wealthy and eager collectors in Asia. Only time will tell if this will become the “Asian Art Basel”, but […]

The original pieces were auctioned at Phillips de Pury, but the signed and numbered prints — 2,010 of each image are available for those interested here. More images after […]

Openings: Yoshitomo Nara – “Ceramic Works” @ Tomio Koyama Gallery

Yoshitomo Nara unveiled a new series of works at Japan’s Tomio Koyama Gallery yesterday. As we mentioned earlier, Nara has been very busy honing his talents on this new medium for over a year at Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park. The results of his hard work clearly showed in his 20 or so ceramic sculptures both large and small in scale. Of course, what would a Nara show be without some of his signature drawings. It’s very exciting when an artist explore a new medium outside […]
