Streets: Conor Harrington (Lisbon)

Lisbon continues to be a hotbed for street activity recently (Brad Downey, Vhils), and it appears according to Stick2Target, a new piece from Conor Harrington’s (interviewed) has popped up. Haven’t seen any indoor work from the Cork born painter since the brilliant Hell’s Half Acre show (covered), so we are certainly curious as to what’s he been working on (mentioned here). Brian Adam Douglas, a.k.a. Elbow-Toe (interviewed) was in London a couple of weeks ago for his Due Date solo exhibition (covered), currently on at Black Rat Projects. Showing: Skewville – ‘Slow Your Roll’ @ High Roller Society

Slow Your Roll, the first UK solo show by Brooklyn art duo Skewville, launched last Friday at High Roller Society. AM took advantage of the East London gallery’s new Sunday opening hours to visit over the weekend in the calm of a non-preview atmosphere. On the way, we spotted one of Skewville’s recent outdoor pieces, featuring the painted and foam-stamped word “BEEF” aptly done on the shopfront shutter of a local butcher. Whilst visiting Sheffield at the weekend, AM came across this new city centre piece from Phlegm. This cool sequential piece looks like it could have jumped straight out of the pages of the latest issue of his comic; and was painted over an older style colour Phlegm piece – the evidence of which can be seen seeping through the red background and also still partly intact top left of the shot. AM ventured over to the wilds of South Yorkshire this weekend to visit the studio of Kid Acne, who is currently putting together a new body of work for his upcoming solo show at StolenSpace entitled Rhythm is a Dancer. Streets: Ethos (Sao Paulo)

Claudio Ethos, whose surrealistic street mural in Paris we recently featured, has been busy doing more painting. The Brazilian artist certainly has a way of catching the eye with his play on proportions and his imaginative imagery. This new piece was done in his home country in its largest city – Sao Paolo. Berlin-based American artist, Brad Downey, has been keeping himself rather busy lately. His first show in the Middle East, We Are Beginning: Personal Projects in Public Spaces, opened this week at Cuadro Fine Art Gallery in Dubai. In addition, Downey’s work features in the group show What Is Contemporary Art? which opened Friday at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Roskilde, Denmark. Who rocks the hardest? Apparently, Ben Eine does, among other things as he’s painting up San Fran in conjunction with his show that opened last weekend (covered). No stranger to collaborations (see Nuart), not to mention both being automatic invites to any serious street art event, Blu and Ericailcane have teamed up for another piece – this time in Bologna. Following a brief stint alongside Brad Downey and Vhils in Lisbon, Portugal as part of the ongoing and impressive Crono project (featured here and here), MOMO arranged a short stay in the UK before heading back earlier this week to his latest base in security-challenged New Orleans.
