Streets: El Mac (Toronto)

El Mac was finally able to leave the States for the first big mural project he has done out of the country since having struggled with health issues as of late. Thankfully, it looks like he has recovered nicely with his skills intact from the looks of this stunning piece that was commissioned by Eventscape in Toronto. The wall adjacent to the Gardiner Expressway was executed in collaboration with Montreal’s STARE and Toronto’s KWEST, who contributed on the background. Discuss El Mac here.

Streets: Os Gemeos (Vancouver) – Part I

Os Gemeos are currently in Vancouver working on an impressive outdoor project organized by the Vancouver Biennale. Painting six large silos, on the full 360 degree surface covering 23,500 square feet (7,162 square metres), this is going to be their biggest mural to date, and their first one in Canada. With this project, the twins are joining the impressive roster of international artists including Ai Weiwei, Andy Goldsworthy, Vik Muniz and Jonathan Borofsky in transforming Vancouver into an open air museum for the 2014-2016 Vancouver Biennale. Located on Granville Island alongside […]

Streets: Phlegm for Djerbahood (Tunisia)

Continuing our tour of the amazingly extensive street art festival (coverage here) put on by Galerie Itinerrance in Tunisia, we now turn our attention to Phlegm. Creating a series of small murals on abandoned structures, the UK-based artist played around with the architectural elements and painted appropriately placed windows and doors for his signature characters to interact with. The end result are some of our favorite pieces yet for the Djerbahood Project. Discuss Phlegm here.

Streets: Sea Walls: Murals for Oceans – Mexico Expedition

A couple of weeks ago Pangeaseed.org wrapped up another praiseworthy project on the island of Isla Mujeres, Mexico – Sea Walls: Murals for Oceans – Mexico Expedition. For this event that took place from July 20-28, they invited a group of international artists to help raise awareness for the conservation of the ocean.  Similar to what they did with POW! WOW! Hawaii earlier this year (covered), 1xRun.com released a series of limited edition prints along with this event, with 100% of the proceeds going towards funding the programme. Greatly needed protection for the […]

Streets: Mars-1, Damon Soule, Oliver Vernon (Denver)

Whenever some of the Furtherrr Collective boys get together (see 2012, 2013, 2013), you can expect something special to go down. That’s exactly what happened last week in Denver at Cultivate Colorado (666 Buchtel Blvd.) when Mars-1, Damon Soule, and Oliver Vernon combined their powers create this otherworldly mural. With imagery from the three artists that mesh so well together, the new wall is a welcome addition to the cityscape and will stand as a testament to their talent. Streets: ABOVE – 46 shutters in 48 hours (London)

Prolific Bay Area bomber ABOVE (interviewed) recently completed a marathon session in London at the Chrisp Street Market in Poplar over the weekend. Using over 100 cans of spray paint while making his mark on 46 shutters in a span of 48 hours, ABOVE surely came close to some sort of record while covering over 19 shop fronts with his iconic arrow motif. Take a look at some more examples of what the American artist put up  below… Photo credit: Global Street Art / ABOVE. Discuss ABOVE […]

Streets: ROA for Djerbahood (Tunisia)

Another artist (also see Bom.K & Herbert Baglione) making their mark at the massive Djerbahood Project curated by Galerie Itinerrance was the Belgium-based ROA. The prolific street dissection specilist has since traveled to Sweden, but first, he laid down several sweet murals on Djerba Island in Tunisia utilizing the domed architecture of the reason quite nicely. Check out more photos below… Photos via Street Art Belgium. Discuss ROA here.

Streets: Herbert Baglione for Djerbahood (Tunisia)

Another artist that was invited to Djerba in Tunisia for the Djerbahood Project organized by Galerie Itinerrance was Brazilian artist Herbert Baglione. The streets of the picturesque village of Erriadh felt like a perfect setting for his ongoing 1000 Shadows project, so the artist painted several new pieces around the town. Like many other artists participating in the project, Baglione involved existing architectural elements into his work, but he pushed that concept even further. Using random objects, such a common clay vases that can be found in the area, he definitely created some of his most haunting […]
