When AM arrived at Shawn Huckins‘ studio in Denver’s trendy Lowry district, the paintings were finished, the oil dry and most already packed up and ready to send across town to Goodwin Fine Art for his solo show entitled American_tier opening April 17th (stay tuned for opening night coverage). LA Art Show ’14: Littletopia

Last week when AM stopped by the LA Art Show, we made sure to pay a visit to the special Littletopia section curated by Red Truck Gallery. Featuring an array of artists and art that is seldom seen at the event, this part of the fair saw a healthy and steady stream of visitors. Participants included galleries like Sloan Fine Art, Breeze Block, La Luz de Jesus, Last Rites, Roq La Rue, Spoke Art, Thinkspace, and Varnish Fine Art. Openings: ‘Word Play’ @ Design Matters

A little while back we brought you a preview of some of the work for Word Play, hosted at Design Matters Gallery in Los Angeles. The premise of the exhibition excited us as the curated theme was based around text within art. The group exhibition was curated by Stephanie Chefas, of Platinum Cheese blog fame and features a variety of artists from very different backgrounds but all commonly using text in their work though a range of styles and mediums. If you’re a fan of text used within art, then you’ll be interested in the upcoming exhibit Word Play, hosted at Design Matters Gallery in Los Angeles.
