As you know, Shepard Fairey’s (featured) was just in Copenhagen for his show at V1 Gallery (covered). We had privately been told by multiple sources that him and Romeo Trinidad of OBEY Clothing had been attacked while in town, but didn’t want to write about it until there was official word released (which just happened). As most of our regulars know, we have been following Shepard Fairey’s (featured) excursion into Copenhagen for a series of murals (part 1, part 2, and part 3) leading up to his showing at V1 Gallery. We all hit bumps in the road, but with a little help we can all overcome any obstacles. As mentioned previously, a good friend of AM and assistant director of Joshua Liner Gallery, Tim Strazza, was unfortunately diagnosed with a Multiple Sclerosis. We helped sponsor a fundraiser created by the gallery to generate funds that went to support Tim and his medical bills. The leader of the Obey campaign is in Denmark for his show this weekend at V1 Gallery but has been getting up around town these last several days. As we draw closer to the Friday night opening of Shepard Fairey’s (featured) show Your Ad Here at V1 Gallery, we will bringing you some front line pics as he and the Obey crew beautify walls in and around Copenhagen. This particular peace dove mural was their first effort and located on Jagtvej 69, 2200 Nørrebro for those in town. Streets: West Hollywood Library Wrapup (Shepard Fairey, Kenny Scharf, RETNA)

Although the new public library in West Hollywood isn’t set to open until the fall, the three large murals by Shepard Fairey, Kenny Scharf, and RETNA are now complete. Billed as an extension to MOCA’s Art in the Streets exhibition, the project (which we have been following) was apparently conceived by Jeffrey Deitch himself and will also include some additional indoor work from Fairey. The work however may not be permanent as the city has only committed to hosting the murals through July 2012. More […]

Earlier this month, Shepard Fairey came and visited the Big Apple to work on a few projects (more on that later). In between his indoor sessions, he invited AM to tag along while he worked to beautify some legal spots in Manhattan. The historic Art in the Streets exhibition is drawing to a close soon with the last day scheduled for August 8th. For street art and graffiti fans out there who haven’t made the trek over to the MOCA yet, make sure you put it on your to do list as you will regret not visiting. Perhaps this new video sent to us by Juan Enriquez will give you some encouragement. The footage includes interview with CornBread, Freedom, Mr. Cartoon, and Shepard Fairey. Discuss this show here.
