Showing: Rosson Crow @ Musée Régional d’Art Contemporain Languedoc-Roussillon

The Regional Museum of Contemporary Art in Sérignan, France is currently showing the nostalgic abstractions of Rosson Crow (featured). Featuring 25 large-scale paintings (old and new) from the American artist, the comprehensive exhibition, her largest ever, gives attendees a good look at the psychedelic modern take on decadent interiors from the past that have become her signature imagery. If you happen to be in the area and are interested in seeing her “American version of Versailles, through its fabricated luxury,” the show is on through November 2nd. […]

After sharing photos of the high profile installation and an in depth look at the creation of new commissioned pieces for his new show in Shanghai, we now turn our attention to Cai Guo-Qiang’s explosive opening festivities at the Power Station of Art. Previews: Heiko Müller – “Glades” @ Feinkunst Krüger

On September 6th, Feinkunst Krüger will be opening an exhibition from Heiko Müller, his first solo with the Hamburg gallery since he started showing with them in 2003. Glades will feature the German artist’s nature-infused paintings, a byproduct his inspiration for art always originating from his times spent in the mountains and forests. Of course, there is a surreal aspect to his work as well, sourced from the times where he experiences uncanny or eerie feelings in the outdoors – like jogging through the woods at dusk. […]

Summer is the season where new art gets discovered as many group shows pop up when most of the art industry goes on vacation before things pick up again in September. Jonathan LeVine Gallery worked with renowned curator Roger Gastman to bring together a bold grouping of graffiti & urban artists both old and new. Entitled Cruel Summer, this great exhibition showcased a new level of work from each artist. There was some familiar imagery, but the work comes off fresh to attendees who were clamoring […]

Openings: Sam Falls – “Light Over Time” @ MetroTech Center

The Los Angeles-based Sam Falls recently returned to Brooklyn for an outdoor project with the help of The Public Art Fund. Entitled Light Over Time, this exhibition held in the MetroTech Center courtyard clearly brings Fall’s installation magic into the outdoor setting. There are five sculptural works placed in select locations that invite the viewer to interact with the pieces. Whether it’s a tetris-like bench that changes color depending on the temperature or a large wind chime that can be rung, it’s pretty fitting to enjoy Fall’s simple design […]

Another artist who traveled to Tunisia for the Djerbahood Project (coverage here) was the Brooklyn-based Swoon (interviewed). She joined the long list of artists invited by Galerie Itinerrance to beautify the North African island. Working with her distinctive imagery and the village architecture, she certainly put up some compelling pieces for the locals to enjoy.
