Art Focus: Jake & Dinos Chapman

Jake & Dinos Chapman, often referred to as the Chapman Brothers, are English artists known for their subversive humor and provocative work often dealing with themes of  violence and death. What caught our attention recently was a new epic miniature landscape composed of four encased diorama entitled The Sum of All Evil that they created for their current show Chicken at the PinchukArtCentre in Kiev. POW WOW ’13: Yoskay Yamamoto, Jeff Hamada, Wu Yue, and Andrea Wan

Another mural we watched go up during POW WOW Hawaii was a joint effort from Yoskay Yamamoto, Jeff Hamada, Wu Yue, and Andrea Wan. Situated next to a small park in the Kaka’ako district, the piece meshed the talents of all four artists who hail from different parts of the world – Los Angeles, Vancouver, Paris, and Berlin. Setup: ROA – “Stop Over” @ Bodson-Emelinckx

Shots of opening night in Brussels for ROA’s newest solo show will soon follow, but here are some photos of the Belgium-based street artist prepping his installation and works for the exhibition. Entitled Stop Over, and held at the Bodson-Emelinckx Gallery, the new paintings and install should keep his hometown fans satisfied while they wait for the prolific animal anatomist to take to the streets. Italian artist and illustrator Marco Mazzoni opened a solo show last night with Galleria Patricia Armocida in Milan, Italy. Iceland born artist Katrin Fridriks will have a solo show during Art13 art fair in London from the 1st until 3rd of March 2013. Openings: Herakut – “Too High To Heal” @ Metro Gallery

Earlier this month, we shared some photos with you of the latest installation of The Giant Storybook Project from Herakut on the streets of Melbourne. The German duo were also in town for their latest solo show at the Metro Gallery entitled Too High To Heal featuring their signature mix of abstract and photorealistic painting.
