As members of a special group of artists from NY, Ryan McGinley, Dash Snow, and Dan Colen will be forever linked – all have achieved their success in their own right, some more infamously than others. The Triology Exhibition brings three of them together for a show at The Ring Art Center during Art Basel Miami Week and was certainly one of the highlights for AM. More photos after the jump…

Releases / Teaser: “Walls and Frames” Book Launch

The latest book by Gestalten, Walls & Frames, edited by Maximiliano Ruiz focuses on emerging international street artists and documents how they are transitioning from street to galleries, using innovative tools and techniques that are shaping a new direction of contemporary art. To celebrate the international release, all 101 participating artists have created handmade cover sleeves that will be available for sale during the launch parties in London at POW on the 8th of December and Gestalten Space in Berlin on 15th of December. Basel Week Miami ’11: FriendsWithYou

During our sojourn into the art extravaganza in Miami known as Art Basel Week, we were happy to be able to visit the artistic duo FriendsWithYou in their home base, office, and gallery space in the Design District. The exhibition consisted of new work created especially for this annual influx of art fans and collectors, as well as some of the work that they displayed at The Hole Gallery back in June (covered). Openings: Evol & Friends @ Pictures On Walls

Following his recent installation in London Smithfield market (covered here), German artist EVOL and a full supporting cast of artists took over Pictures on Walls for the Christmas show with installations, sculptures, books and limited edition prints. Other featured artists include Banksy, Barminski, Dran, Tilt, James Cauty, Paul Insect, Wayne White, Might Mo, Todd James, Invader, Cept, Jerome Miller, Pacolli, Victor Van Gaasbeek, Zach Schrey and more. Basel Week Miami ’11: Rubell Family Collection

One of the most prestigious private showings at Art Basel Miami Week every year is from the Rubell Family Collection. This year, the group show culled from their extensive holdings was entitled American Exuberance, a reference to the fact that all artists included were American citizens and living in the States leading to a keen observation of American culture, economy and politics. Yesterday, AM stopped by the M Building in Miami to photograph the newest exhibition from French photographer JR. This showing was an Art Basel Week Miami supplement to his current show at Galerie Perrotin and featured photos as well as wheatpasted found materials from his various projects in the past. As a bonus, the recent TED prize winner also added his signature eyes to the side of the building. More photos after the jump…

Art Basel Week in Miami certainly has seen their fair share of Andrew Schoultz’s work with no less than five opportunities (six if you count his outdoor mural for Primary Flight) to admire the Bay Area artist’s work. Showing with Marx & Zavattero, Mark Moore Gallery (more on this booth later), Morgan Lehman Gallery, Jerome Zodo Contemporary, as well as selling out all 30 prints (seen above) of his gold American flags famously with Miami-based nonprofit organization Locust Projects, it certainly has been a busy and productive week […]

Tonight at Stephen Webster in Beverly Hills in their 2nd floor gallery space, an exhibited curated by Corey Helford Gallery will open featuring the art work of Ray Caesar (interviewed). The murder mystery themed evening will also feature a launch of the jewelry line’s it started with eve... collection, a set of rings inspired by histories of the most villainous sirens as well as an installation from Cameron Silver. The Oahu based designer, fashion photographer, and artist gives us a unique look though her lens of the special mix of urban & tropical lifestyle/landscapes in the island paradise.
