Teaser: Mars-1 – “Infinite Tapestry” @ Meta Gallery

Mario Martinez aka Mars-1, whom we last saw at his Billy Shire show last May, will be opening up a new show at the Meta Gallery in Toronto next Friday, April 2nd. It looks as though he may continuing to explore more muted works with black backgrounds like the piece we saw at Josh Liners’ Further group show a while back. Teaser: “Visionary Art” @ Mondo Bizarro

Another talented group of artists will be participating in a group show next month entitled “Visionary Art”. The exhibition, held in Italy’s Mondo Bizarro Gallery will include Greg “Craola” Simkins (featured), Laurie Lipton, Dan Quintana, Naoto Hattori and Mike Davis. Jeremy Fish (featured) closed out the first leg of his “Road Less Traveled” tour (previewed) last weekend at Denver’s Andenken Gallery. Opening to a packed house, Jeremy held court at the Queen City of the Plains, providing residents with a new mural and dozen of prints and new originals. New York native Justin BUA, whom we recently met at the “Who Killed The Music” Grammy Art Show”, will be opening his solo show (both old and new works) at the Pop International Gallery on Thursday, March 25. Justin, who is currently teaching at USC, takes inspiration from urban culture and in particular the Harlem Renaissance. A while back, we posted a preview of Andrew Schoultz’s solo in Italy at the Jerome Zodo Contemporary. Well, he has kindly sent us some images of the incredible installation he has put together at the Milan Gallery that opened on the March 11th and runs through the end of April, including large murals, crumbling walls, telephone poles and wires – just an all encompassing experience. Openings: Barnstormers @ Joshua Liner Gallery

The beautiful weather and the promise of great art seemingly brought out all the five boroughs Thursday night for the opening of the Barnstormers show at Joshua Liner Gallery. The exhibition – which was so large that it overflowed Liner’s third floor space into an entire other gallery on the floor below – leaned toward presenting individual works from the diverse group of artists, instead of toward collaborative installations as expected. Before the big Rosson Crow show opening (covered), Deitch Projects hosted Kehinde Wiley’s project with PUMA for several days on it’s tour stop before heading to China and Italy.
