Preview: Tessar Lo/Moira Hahn @ Roq La Rue

Kirsten from Roq La Rue has sent us an early look at the installation Tessar Lo working on for his two-person show (teased) with Moira Hahn opening tomorrow. That large installation he is setting up looks pretty insane with it’s patchwork of different sized pieces and mediums. Wish we could be there to watch this textured patchwork slowly take shape. Last night, AM had the opportunity to attend a very special event held by Bonhams LA. A unique panel of speakers from different corners of the Urban art genre gathered to discuss the state of the Urban art market and the economics/dynamics of today’s art marketplace. Last night KAWS had a very special opening reception to kickoff his new exhibition at Gering & LÃ³pez Gallery in New York. This marks his highly anticipated return to the New York fine art scene. If you needed another reason to attend the Audrey Kawasaki curated drawing show at Thinkspace friday night, here are two more for you. Releases: Tin Prints x 2

In conjunction with his show “Tainted” (previewed) opening this weekend at Copro Nason, Tin will be releasing two prints for the two paintings seen here – “Hi” and “Stopping for Strangers.” These will be sized at 17 x 12″ and will be offered with two options – framed ($300) and unframed ($100). Openings: Ron English @ Shooting Gallery

Ron English’s show “The Secret History of KISS” (previewed) opened last weekend at the Shooting Gallery. He took the band’s trademark face paint and melded it with baroque era-styled paintings for an unexpected effect. It’s like he used a time machine, took Rembrandt hostage, and forced him to add the iconic makeup to his paintings. This show also reminded us as to how amazing and versatile Ron’s technical skills are. More photos after the jump.
