Jen Stark For Facebook Artist in Residence Program

Continuing to go big with her art, Jen Stark recently completed an installation for the new Facebook building in the Bay Area. With a team of assistants by her side, the Los Angeles-based artist left here colorful make on the inside of the Gehry building for the Facebook Artist in Residence program. The multi-layered psychedelic colors seem to drip down from the edges of the indoor structure mirroring the imagery seen in her gallery work. More photos below… Discuss Jen Stark here.

Openings: Vhils – “Dissonance’ @ Lazarides (London)

After showing at Lisbon’s Electricity Museum / EDP Foundation (covered) and in Paris (covered) over the last year, multidisciplinary Portuguese artist Alexandre Farto aka Vhils returned to London for a new solo entitled Dissonance at Lazarides Rathbone. Running until April 23rd, the exhibition reflects on how various factors in the contemporary urbanized world shapes its inhabitants, while personal identities are vanishing under the visual noise and surrounding clutter. Reflecting this, the subjects being portrayed in the pieces disappear through multiple layering of billboards and stratification on metal and wood. Check out images from the opening below. Upcoming: “One Page” @ Roq La Rue

Coinciding with Emerald City Comicon, Roq La Rue will hosting the opening of One Page tonight, March 27th. For four days only, on display will be contributions from artists based on a unique concept of producing a one page comic with a short story. Openings: Haroshi – “Wait What” @ HHH gallery

One month after opening his third NYC show (covered), Haroshi had a pre-opening special exhibition at HHH gallery on March 21st in Tokyo. The gallery that was co-founded by Haroshi and Usugrow held host to a group of locals who are engaged in various creative activities, such as book-making, event planning, music-making and filmmaking. On March 27, David Bloch Gallery in Marrakech will continue their program of introducing relevant international urban artists to the Morroco with a solo exhibition OFF/GRID by Augustine Kofie (featured). Previews: Erik Jones – “Color|Full” @ Thinkspace

On March 28th, Thinkspace will be hosting a new solo from painter Erik Jones entitled Color | Full. As evidenced by his previous works, the NYC-based artist likes to combine his portraiture with graphic patterning, color blocking, and linear elements but this latest showing will take things a bit further. Along with some paintings created in the classic Jones style, there are also more exploratory pieces where he has delineated different planes in his imagery by bringing a sculptural aspect or dimensionality to his work.

Studio Visits: Meguru Yamaguchi – “Infinity Net” @ Reed Space

AM recently had the chance to peek inside Meguru Yamaguchi’s studio in Brooklyn as he was preparing a new body of work, which will be shown at Reed Space starting March 26th. Infinity Net will present some striking new abstract work by the Tokyo-born and raised artist for his second showing at the space. Opening: Pixel Pancho – ‘Memory of Life’ @ StolenSpace

Pixel Pancho just launched his first solo exhibition in London at StolenSpace entitled Memory of Life. The Italian artist has transformed the gallery space with installations featuring surreal robotic characters using pieces of furniture & musical boxes while also created some sculptures with moving mechanisms, including Michelone, an edition of 10 handmade and articulated robots.
