Upcoming: Judith Supine – “Thanks for Nothing” @ Known Gallery

This Saturday night (September 14th), the Known Gallery in Los Angeles will be presenting Thanks for Nothing, a two person show featuring Judith Supine and Alia Shawkat. For his part, Supine has prepared a new body of work including eighty small originals and six large scale pieces. “Young Americans: Antimatter” @ Gajah Gallery

Young Americans: Antimatter is a group exhibition that just closed in Singapore at the Gajah Gallery featuring Amanda Charchian, Bumblebee (seen above), Greg Allen-Muller, Lisa Solberg, Judith Supine and Zio Ziegler. Curated by Simmy Swinder, the show features a diverse collection of works from the selected young American artists. Showing: Askew One “Entropy” @ Inner State Gallery, Detroit

New Zealand artist Askew is currently showing at the Inner State Gallery in Detroit. For Entropy, the artist created a new coherent body of work using splatters, expressive strokes, and bright colors on a black background. Over 80 paintings of different sizes were created with acrylic and spray paint on plexi glass or glass. Nuart ’13: Part III – Vhils

As part of our ongoing coverage (Part I & Part II) of this year’s Nuart Festival (see previous years), we now have some photos of a new piece from Vhils. Choosing from his extensive repertoire of techniques (also see recent torn paper mural in Phlly), the Portugal-based artist went with his tried and true chiseled look with this image of a face he etched into the side of a building. Previews: Saber – “Ugly American” @ The Outsiders (Newcastle)

Tomorrow (September 6th) in the UK, SABER (interviewed) will be unveiling all new works at The Outsiders in Newcastle. Entitled Ugly American, the graffiti artist’s European solo debut looks to feature two distinct set of works. One series consists of wood depictions (featured here) of the US Flag and the Union Jack, scarred and covered with his mark-making. The other pieces in the show are his abstract tags and urban calligraphy, sometimes peeking through from the back. Take a look at more preview images below… Discuss Saber here.

Previews: Ludo – “Destructionis Hostis Vespa” @ White Walls

Ludo (interviewed) is opening a solo show at White Walls in San Francisco on September 14. The title of the show is Destructionis Hostis Vespa, which is a name of the creature around which the entire show is centered. He also created a sculpture of this mechasect cross between a combat airplane and a wasp, which will be displayed in the middle of the room. Upcoming: Faile @ Dallas Contemporary

After a comprehensive series of shows in collaboration with the New York City Ballet earlier this year, the Brooklyn collective known as Faile haven’t had any time to rest. The two Patricks have been hard at work getting ready for their big upcoming museum show at the Dallas Contemporary scheduled to open September 21st.
