Opening: JR @ Lazarides

Famed street photographer JR opened his show in London last Friday. Much anticipation had built up over the last week because of the large installations he had put up in Soho (teased previously). We had wondered how his art would translate into the gallery setting, but it looks as though he was able to maintain the “feel” of his work quite nicely. By pasting his photographs onto uneven pieces of wood, aluminum, and even a mirror, he was able to emulate his famous style on […]

Teaser: Upcoming JR show in London

Parisian photographer & street artist JR’s distinctive work has gone up in London recently in preparation for his first solo show “28 Millimetres: WOMEN” at Lazarides (Greek Street and Charing Cross locations) on October 3rd.  He is known for putting large-scale black & white photographs of people up on buildings, pillars, walls, etc… As you can see, his wheat-pasting skills are phenomenal. To be able to maintain the integrity of his images over so many indentations and outcroppings is amazing and produces a stunning effect. […]

Update: Banksy bombs New York

The Internet is abuzz with speculation that the Banksy mural that recently appeared in New York’s Soho is in fact a notice of an upcoming NYC show, perhaps at Deitch. Vicious rumor? Fact or fiction? Only time will tell. AM will keep you informed.

Banksy bombs New York!

When AM attended the Lazarides show in New York, one of the hot rumors floating around was that Banksy was in town bombing New York. Our friend Jake from Streetsy.com went to ask them about the project and got them to admit “they worked for collossal media, the sign painting company, and they were given […]

Stealing from the Rich / Above

Above has posted up new video of his “Stealing from the Rich” piece that he did in Lisbon. It appears that he noticed a beggar/homeless person sitting in her usual spot next to an ATM and that must have inspired him to produce this new work. Learn a little more about the globe-trotting “Arrow Man” after the jump.
