Teaser: “In The Nursery” @ Corey Helford Gallery

It looks like Ray Caesar will be part of a group of artists participating in the upcoming “In The Nursery” group show at Corey Helford Gallery. All the work in the show, like this exquisite piece (seen above) from the master of the digital arts, will focus on the themes of childhood, birth, and nursery art. Here’s something to get your gums around… Everyone’s favourite purveyor of eye-candy Sweet Toof, one of the most prolific street artists in London, is bringing a selection of new paintings to London’s Arch 402 Gallery next week. He’s of course a classically trained fine artist, and the Royal Academy trained painter is well versed in working fast and dirty outdoors as the man who over the last couple of years put the ‘candy’ into the Burning Candy crew. Openings: “Zen Garage” @ JANM

Last week, the Japanese American Nation Museum hosted “Zen Garage”, a small exhibition featuring some custom vehicles from Shinya Kimura, Giant Robot’s Eric Nakamura (interviewed), and David Choe (featured). The highlight for us was Choe’s custom monster Scion xB showcasing some of his signature artwork on its body and his love for the drums in the back. From January 12th-16th, Elms Lester will be showing Adam Neate’s (interviewed) work at the first ever Art Stage Singapore. If they are lucky, fans in the city-state will be seeing some of the work from his Flock Series at the art fair that we saw in October at the London gallery (covered). Our friend Roger Gastman has been a busy boy. First he was the consulting producer for Exit Through the Gift Shop, then he curated the Sanrio anniversary art show, and later in 2011, he’ll be helping the MOCA to curate their Art in the Streets exhibition. Somehow, he still found a way to squeeze some time in to write a new book on graffiti. It seems like Arkitip has been involved in some pretty cool projects recently including the Andrew Schoultz show at their space in LA and the recent Jose Parla x Incase releases. Word now comes that the next issue (No. 0056) of their comprehensive art magazine will focus on French street photographer and TED prize winner – JR. Openings: “Never Judge” @ StolenSpace Gallery

Never Judge, a group show where a diverse group of artists were invited to reinterpret their favorite book covers, opened recently at the StolenSpace Gallery in London. Classics like 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, 1984, War of the Worlds, and Beauty and the Beast had their covers redone by artists like Art Under Pressure, Shepard Fairey, Eelus, and Will Barras.
