Basel Week Miami ’10 – Corey Helford Gallery

One of the highlights of the Scope Art Fair this year was the booth from LA’s Corey Helford Gallery. From the moment we stepped foot in area, we noticed a plethora of art from some AM’s favorites like as Luke Chueh, D*Face, Chloe Early, Ron English, Natalia Fabia, Korin Faught, Eric Joyner, Brandi Milne, Sylvia Ji and Shag. The lux booth design was inviting as pimp couches and rugs invited spectators to take a load off to stare at a great preview of artwork for the […]

Videos: Basel Week Miami ’10: Wynwood Walls

As you know, Wynwood Walls was one of the centerpieces of the Art Basel Week Miami experience when it came to outdoor work. Other than the photos we shared with you here, we thought you would like to see some video footage of all the action provided by Vernissage TV. As an added bonus, Tony Goldman, the man behind the entire project, and his daughter Jessica were interviewed on the subject (seen after the jump).

Streets: Judith Supine (Los Angeles)

It looks like Judith Supine was recently in Los Angeles for a visit. While in town, he took time to throw up several of his signature “green skinned” collaged pieces including one that was put in New Image Art’s show (covered) in Miami for Art Basel Week. Thankfully, his buddy Skullphone had time to shoot some pics before the rains started. More after the jump…

Openings: Mike Giant & Adam 5100 @ Guerrero Gallery

Last Saturday, Guererro Gallery hosted the opening for an exhibition featuring two artists who are truly masters at their craft: Mike Giant and Adam 5100 (previewed). Both artists displayed work not typically found in their previous exhibitions, which gave the show a more personal feel. Mike Giant (who was occasionally spotted riding around outside the gallery on his bicycle) displayed his usual crisp Sharpie work on paper, as well as works on canvas done with One Shot enamel, intricate tracings on paper, and collages featuring […]

Streets: Basel Week Miami ’10 – Graffiti

Sharing the stage with the street art at Art Basel Week Miami were the graffiti artists although the lines between the two are sometimes blurred. With events like Graffiti Gone Global, crews from all over the country could be seen working on throwups, tags, and large complex pieces putting their handstyles and techniques on full display. Check out a selection of photos after the jump, but for a lot more, go to Focused On Graff’s photostream…

Basel Week Miami ’10: Shepard Fairey – “Mandala Ornament”

Art Basel Week in Miami may have a lot of action indoors at the fairs, but that’s not the only place you will find the arts. As you can see with Wynwood Walls and along the streets of Miami, in recent years we have seen artists make contributions on the outdoors too. We took a break from the fair circuit during the week to meet up with friend Shepard Fairey to catch him working on this gorgeous Mandala Ornament mural on the side of a […]

Openings: Herbert Baglione – “Ashes Of Our Time” @ Winterlong Gallerie (France)

Winterlong Gallerie in Niort, France recently opened up a group show Ashes Of Our Time which included one of the stalwarts of Brazilian street art, Herbert Baglione. Wall murals, an introspective installations, and paintings were all part of what Baglione had to offer for his French fans. Other artists featured were Guillaume Antzenberger, Samuel François, Renaud Combes. Take a look at more photos from the exhibition after the jump…

The Selby Visits Pharrell

Todd Selby certainly has been invited to visit many of the artists that we admire in the past (ie: Robert Longo & Mr.). This time, he visits Pharrell, who just performed at Art Basel Miami (covered) in his Miami home where his collection of KAWS paintings and sculptural pieces apparently play a prominent role in his interior decorating aside from a Keith Haring piece. The series of commission pieces based on Family Guy as well as rare edition figures certainly has AM jealous – oh, […]

Showing: C215 – “Community Service” @ Galerie Itinerrance

Prolific Parisian street artist Christian Guémy aka C215 brought his talents indoors when he opened his show recently at Galerie Itinerrance. After an exhibition in New York, he brings his exquisite stencils and color combinations back to France with Community Service featuring works on found objects, installations, and wall murals. More photos after the jump…

Streets: El Mac (Mexico) Part II

A while back, we posted up some photos of a mural El Mac painted for the Seres Queridos project in Mexico. The street artist, known for his signature striation and large-scale murals recently shared new photos of another piece from the same series based on Manuel Lee Chang, known locally as “el Chino”(despite the fact that he’s of Korean descent) with his Guacamaya (Macaw). Take a look at more photos after the jump…
