Our friend Frankie just sent us this dope video created by Herakut (interviewed) recapping the freshness that was their show “Happy Doubt Day” at  Galerie Springmann.Varol. Much like the video that Hera posted last year, you get to see their amazing artwork get animated as the dynamic duo brings this show to life. Discuss this show here. Discuss Herakut here.

Streets: Mac & Retna Mural (Completed) @ Culver City

You may remember seeing the in-process images of this mural we previewed a few weeks back. Well, here it is in its fully completed glory. The mural is located on 3030 S La Cienega Blvd., right by some of the best galleries in California, so make it a art-filled day trip and check it out for yourselves. More images after the jump…

Openings: KAWS @ Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum

Yesterday, AM attended the exhibition opening of Brooklyn-based artist and designer Brian Donnelly, a.k.a KAWS, at the The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Ridgefield, CT. The first ever solo museum exhibition for the famed urban contemporary artist was nothing short of inspiring. Mixing one part retrospective and one part fresh works created a dynamic survey of a career that has influenced a range of design and popular culture. From his humble street/graffiti origins to graphic/vinyl design work to his current relevance in the world of […]

Teaser: Best|Ever – “The Delicacy of Passion” @ 55DSL / Studio55, London

UK artist duo and graffiti crew Best|Ever are set to bring a sampling of new work to a pop-up show in London next week entitled “The Delicacy of Passion”. Best|Ever bring a classy take on street art with their unique anatomically themed subject matter and exquisite can control resulting in some of the best looking photo-realism achieved with a spray can we’ve seen. The canvas works this duo will present bring their compositions into a smaller, indoor scale. The focus on the darker side of […]

Preview / Setup: “Not Quite Open for Business” @ The Hole

A few weeks ago, we updated you on the creation of “The Hole” gallery by two former directors of Deitch Projects (Kathy Grayson & Meghan Coleman) and that they were planning some sort of group exhibition with at least nine artists. A pretty ambitious plan for a gallery put together in the past two months to fill “the hole” left by Jeffrey Deitch right? Well, great projects tend to snowball and now this show now has over 20 key artists and the opening is in less […]

Streets: Jeff Soto in New York

After Jeff Soto (featured) tasted the streets again in London after ten long years, it looks like he’s definitely gotten the itch since then. Following a sick mural for Art Basel Week last December in Miami, he now has put up a piece in Chelsea ahead of his show opening this Saturday night at Jonathan LeVine Gallery. Keep it locked on AM as we’ll have more to follow… Discuss this show here. Discuss Jeff Soto here. Join Jeff Soto’s facebook fan page here.

Preview: KAWS @ Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum

Here’s a quick sampling of what fans of Brooklyn-based contemporary artist, KAWS, will have in store for themselves tomorrow night during the opening of his first museum exhibition at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum. Bringing his own brand of street inspired pop art to such an elevated stage is no doubt a crowning achievement for an artist who initially made his way bombing billboards and beautifying phonebooths and bus-stops in and around NYC. With more attention deservedly being paid to the artist as a result […]

Streets / Video: Twist, Amaze, Resq, Stefan, Deej, CBT Crew in San Diego

So, that epic wall chock full of handstyles that we posted up last night was actually from San Diego where Barry McGee and the rest of the crew (Amaze, Resq, Stefan, Deej) were in town to prep for the big “Viva La Revolucion” exhibition opening next month at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. If you want to check some of this work out, you’d better hurry as apparently the San Diego residents aren’t as into art as some towns and have been raising […]

Streets: Twist & Amaze

Not sure when or where this went up, but it looks to be a pretty sick “tag-athon” of this particular wall. As you can see, it seems both SF legends Twist (Barry McGee) & Amaze were involved in this piece as reported by Upper Playground. For those who can’t get enough of McGee check out our coverage of his recent museum shows in Oakland and Bolinas. Discuss Barry McGee here.

Openings: Jaybo & Remi/Rough – “No Beginning, No End” @ Galeria Nuble

It’s hard to keep up with events surrounding Remi/Rough, but we try! Between his solo projects, collaborations and his work with Agents of Change, Remi is certainly not one to sit still for long. Last weekend, Remi and Jaybo (aka Monk) opened their two person show in Spain at Galeria Nuble directly after their collaborative live painting event in London with Juice 126. “No Beginning, No End” collects a series of works on canvas and board from the artists, plus some especially sweet looking work […]
