A few Sundays ago, AM decided to swing by Brett Amory’s Oakland studio while he was preparing for his upcoming Lazarides solo entitled Waiting 101 at the Newcastle location. Coming up this Saturday night (March 24th), the LeBasse Projects in Chinatown will be presenting a collection sculptural works from Yoskay Yamamoto (interviewed) that he has been working for the last several years. The showing, entitled Jokes On Me…, features customized figures of iconic toys from childhood as well his own creations putting his skills with a range of mediums including plaster, resin, vinyl, clay and wood. After a showing in Århus in February, Armsrock (interviewed) continues the tour of his native country with an exhibition in Copenhagen at MOHS Exhibit. Entitled Stedfortrædere (translated to Delegates), the joint show in Denmark opening on March 16th will also feature the work of Sif Itona Westerberg. AM was fortunate to visit French graffiti artist TILT in his studio in Toulouse as he prepared for multiple shows in London at POW, Singapore and Manila, and to follow him across the streets. When not painting graffiti on naked “bubble girls” across the world, the self declared “graffiti fetichist” leverages his fun and colourful bubble letters to represent iconic portraits, shoes and flags. While on our way to hit up a plethora of shows associated with Art Basel Week Miami last night at the Design District, we passed by the The Living Room installation.
