Earlier this month Dennis McNett (featured), Swoon (interviewed) and Monica Canilao opened a brand new exhibition entitled The Folding of a Known World at Galleria Patricia Armocida. The trio of US-based artists traveled to Milan to work together on creating fresh collaborative installations filled with their signature styles and techniques. McNett sent us some photos documenting their progress as they slaved away in Italy as well as some final shots of the fruits of their labor. Check it all out after the jump.
A new project coordinated by Gaia in his home city has kicked off recently with this mural from the young street artist. The Anonymous Gallery kicked off their Mexico City location with a bang with a recently closed group show – Fresh Kills. The title of the showing refers to the 2,200 acres in New York known as Fresh Kills Landfill that will be converted to a huge public park over the course of the next 30 years. Earlier this month, Swoon’s (interviewed) first London solo exhibition opened up at the Black Rat Projects. She has spent three long weeks transforming the gallery space with sculptural paper installations that she collectively entitled Mumuration. The project utilized imagery from much of her previous work including her Art in the Streets install at the MOCA, Thalassa at the NOMA, Anthropocene Extinction at the Boston (ICA).
