Previews: Tauba Auerbach – “The New Ambidextrous Universe” @ ICA (London)

Opening very soon (April 16th) at the ICA’s Lower Gallery in London is Tauba Auerbach’s first solo exhibition in the UK entitled The New Ambidextrous Universe. Consisting of seven all new pieces, the selection of work on display highlights the New York-based artist’s versatility in materials and mediums as well as her mathematical and structured approach to art making. Upcoming: Tauba Auerbach – “The New Ambidextrous Universe” @ ICA (London)

On April 16th, the ICA in London will be presenting the first solo exhibition in the UK from the transcendent Tauba Auerbach. Entitled The New Ambidextrous Universe, the show will feature a diverse selection of works from the versatile artist including sculpture, photography, painting, weaving and book design. In particular, we are interested in   her newly created works that “take as their starting point the scientific principles of symmetry and reflection as a means to hint at an alternate, mirror universe.” Discuss Tauba Auerbach here.

As previously announced, Tauba Auerbach recently opened a solo show at STANDARD (OSLO). Showing a whole new body of work that includes installation works, sculptural pieces, and canvases, the American artist worked with a wide range of materials from granite, sand, glass, resin, opal, to plywood and woven fabric. American artist Tauba Auerbach is opening a solo show on Friday, August 30 at STANDARD (OSLO), Norway. After recently exhibiting in Brussel, Malmö, and Bergen, the artist is showing in Europe again. Releases: Tauba Auerbach – “STAB/GHOST”

For those of you who haven’t seen the beautiful handcrafted STAB/GHOST book by artist Tauba Auerbach, here is a closer look. Released through Three Star Books, the translucent limited edition comprises of “clear plastic pages, silkscreened with patterns, sewn with lanyards of plastic thread, and mounted on a specially designed light table.” Produced in an edition of 10, the piece which also functions as a light sculpture, is a testament to Auerbach’s well-known interest in color theory and complex geometries.
