Consisting of seven all new pieces, the selection of work on display highlights the New York-based artist’s versatility in materials and mediums as well as her mathematical and structured approach to art making. From the patterns used to colors chosen to the dichotomy of symmetry and asymmetry, the genius of Auerbach’s work is how it creates beauty from the scientific principles she seeks to harness. This past winter, Tauba Auerbach returned to her hometown of San Francisco and visited the studios of master printers Paulson Bott Press to create an exceptional fine art edition. Entitled Mesh / Moire, this new project stems from the innovative synergy of PBP’s wide array of tools & printing expertise and Tauba’s seemingly limitless creativity with color theory & visual awareness.
