Preview: Inside Nostalgia @ Dorothy Circus

Looks like there is a pretty good show being put together at Dorothy Circus Gallery called “Inside Nostalgia” that is opening Halloween night.Â It’s a three person show featuring Tara McPherson, Esao Andrews, and Travis Louie as well as a large group show in the back gallery featuring: Natalie Shau, David Stoupakis, Camille Rose Garcia, Zoe Lacchei, Naoto Hattori, Prunelle, Silvia Idili, Andy Fluon, Paul Chatem, Ciou, Elena Rapa, Adam Wallacavage, and Arash Radpour. Looking forward to this show at Thinkspace on November 7th not only because Audrey Kawasaki is in it, but also because she is curating it. It seems that artist curated group shows (others that come to mind include Luke Chueh and Travis Louie) usually include some very good names from their genre for some obvious reasons. Openings: Travis Louie & Kris Kuksi @ Shooting Gallery

Travis Louie & Kris Kuksi’s show opened up last Saturday in San Fransciso at the Shooting Gallery (previously previewed). If you have ever observed people looking at their works in person, you will notice that the viewer gets closer and closer to the artwork as they try and get a better look at the details. This is a testament to all the time and hard work put into these pieces.Â Â More photos after the jump.

One of our favorite artists, Travis Louie, is opening a three-person show tonight at the Shooting Gallery. Louie’s technique must be quite complicated as he is able to paint photorealistic images of his imaginary creatures. He will be sharing some of his “secrets” in a future feature with us, but in the meantime you can enjoy his paintings from this show after the jump.
