Releases: ROA – “SK8room Skatedecks”

Belgium-based ROA, who recently had a solo showing in his home country (covered), has also been working on a project with SK8room. The set of three decks (Decay 1, 2, & 3) featuring the street artist’s anatomical style are the result of  a trip to Cambodia, to meet the guys from Skateistan (20% of sales go to them) in Phnom Penh, a not-for-profit organization that teaches empowerment through skateboarding to children in impoverished countries. Teaser: Greg Simkins – “Stop Haunting Me” @ Merry Karnowsky Gallery

On April 6th, the Merry Karnowsky in Los Angeles (also see 2012) will be hosting a new solo show from the locally based Greg Simkins (featured). Known as Craola to his legion of fans, the surrealist painter will be unleashing fresh new works collectively entitled Stop Haunting Me, a celebration of the 20th anniversary of his moniker. Videos: Mel Kadel – “Homemade Horse”

Mel Kadel recently collaborated on a fun little project with Jim Dirschberger (animation) & Andreas Trolf (words) entitled Homemade Horse. The humorous short brings to life imagery from Kadel’s oeuvre built around musings on the nature of different “horses” of the real and imaginary worlds. Take a look below… Via Juxtapoz. Videos: David Choe for MOCAtv

For those who haven’t had a chance to visit David Choe’s “batcave,” here is an in-depth look courtesy of MOCAtv. Along with studio where he does his painting, the complex also acts as a garage, radio station, bachelor pad, and bonus level. Take a look at the video below as Choe gives a guided tour of the space including his unusually sparse bedroom where he sleeps with a modified AR-15. Discuss David Choe here.

CASIS Mission Patch ARK1 by Shepard Fairey

Shepard Fairey was recently commissioned by CASIS (the Center of Advancement of Science in Space), set up by Congress to manage the National Laboratory on the International Space Station, to create a mission patch. The piece for ARK1 (Advancing Research Knowledge 1) featured elements of some of Shep’s iconic design elements as well as an abstracted form of the ISS. Openings: “Game of Thrones” Group Show @ Mondo

Game of Thrones fans and attendees of SXSW this year were treated to a group exhibition put together by Mondo themed on the hit HBO series. Videos: Os Gemeos for MOCAtv

Last year in Boston, Os Gemeos painted a mural in conjunction with their showing at the Institute of Contemporary Art (covered). Now, MOCAtv has just released a video (seen below) documenting the progress along with some commentary from the twins as they talked about the entire project. POW WOW ’13: Kickstarter Project

Videos / Releases: JR – “Action in Kesennuma, Japan” Lithograph

Back in November, French photograffeur JR headed to Japan and toured the disaster area, furthering his Inside Out project in the area – dedicated to the victims of the tsunami.  If you remember, one of the most poignant images from that trip was the pasting of the eyes of a local fisherman on a boat that was stranded and abandoned as the water receded.
