Opening alongside Aaron Nagel’s Marks at the Shooting Gallery was Kevin Cyr and Jessica Hess‘ “Temporal Surfaces” at the adjoining White Walls gallery. Cleverly curated by Lainya Maganya, “Temporal Surfaces” brings together two documentarists of the bleak urban and industrial landscape. Jessica Hess’ calming oil-based renditions of derelict billboards and abandoned railway cars accurately captures the temporal and transitional movement of light across these surfaces while invigorating life and beauty into otherwise drab and dreary locales. AM was recently able to bring you a little insight from Kevin Cyr via our studio visit as he prepared for his latest show, “Temporal Surfaces” alongside Jessica Hess at San Francisco’s White Walls Gallery. We recently stopped by Kevin Cyr’s Brooklyn studio to check out his latest body of work slated for his two-person show with Jessica Hess entitled “Temporal Spaces,” which was curated by Lainya Magana and opens at San Francisco’s White Walls March 6. Opening alongside Antistrot last weekend in San Francisco (covered) was the phenomenal group show, “Never a Dull Moment” at White Walls. Featuring a stellar lineup including Augustine Kofie, The Clayton Brothers (featured), Remi/Rough, and many more, this latest showing is another expertly curated exhibition by the dandy darling, iO Tillet Wright. Featuring a refreshing blend of both photography and painting, this is one show that truly lives up to it’s name. More photos after the jump.

In addition to Travis Louie’s (interviewed) opening at Shooting Gallery last weekend (covered), the Winter Group Show debuted alongside in the adjoining White Walls gallery. Featuring some heavy hitters such as Shepard Fairey (featured), the Clayton Brothers (featured), and Anthony Lister (interviewed) the group show also boasts some upcoming and very exciting talent, namely artists like Nas Champas, Mark Warren Jacques (interviewed and pictured above), Aaron Nagel, and Casey Gray. White Walls SF is gearing up for a big group show which features Kill Pixie, Greg Gossel (interviewed), Katy Horan, Ernesto Yerena, Timothy Karpinski, Mark Warren Jacques (interviewed), Erik Foss, Henry Gunderson (interviewed), Mike Shine, Phillip Lumbang, and more. AM visited Steve “ESPO” Powers on the opening day of his “This Woman’s Work” show (previewed) at White Walls in San Francisco. ESPO held back no punches as he furiously assembled, painted and tagged an entire show in just a few days.
