Continuing his long term collaboration with KP Projects // MKG, Greg “Craola” Simkins (featured) will be opening his latest exhibition at the West Hollywood gallery on May 21st. Just this morning, Hashimoto Contemporary released another print from Scott Scheidly from his pink series of paintings where he pokes fun at dictators & masculine characters from pop culture. On April 23rd, Corey Helford Gallery will be hosting a new solo from Kazuki Takamatsu entitled Decoration Armament. This will be the Japanese artist’s third showing with the gallery in Los Angeles and will feature his depth map pieces created through his unique process that starts digitally and ends hand painted. Always dealing with ideas of death, spirituality, and the younger generation, his surreal images are beautiful to behold with complex layers that seem to glow. INO recently painted this large mural titled Snowblind in his hometown of Athens. Commissioned for the Public Information Campaign for Hepatitis C, the street artist produced a large figurative piece in his signature black & white style. Working without projectors and using his own mapping system, the Greek artist painted a faceless man blinded with the pursuit of money. After collaborating with JR (interviewed) in Paris on some meaningful pieces (covered), Os Gemeos traveled to Milan to paint the inaugural mural for the “Outside the Cube” project. Taking advantage of the shape of the Pirelli HangarBicocca building where trains were built in the twentieth century, as well as referencing from the close proximity of railway lines running parallel to the site, the two brothers decided to paint one of their iconic yellow-skinned characters hanging from the back of a subway car. Leap opens on May 14th at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery in New York and will feature the Los Angeles-based artist’s surreal otherworldly scenes painted with a vivid palette of blues, greens, reds, and splashes of golden light.
