For those of you who like to plan your art calendar a little in advance, a trip to New York (if you aren’t in the area) may need to be arranged if you are a KAWS fan. Although he has had some pretty high profile projects (MTV & Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade) and shows around the world (Switzerland, Japan, Paris, Hong Kong) in the interim, stateside admirers of his work haven’t seen a proper exhibition since early last year in Atlanta. So there is much to celebrate […]
On Saturday night, Luke Chueh’s (featured) opened his latest solo show, Random Acts Of Sadness, at CHG Circa. The mostly new works featured paintings that placed his familiar animal subjects in humorous yet sad situations as well as pieces that poked fun at his critics with self-deprecatory references. Also on display was a new sculptural piece Jack (seen below), inspired by his classic Jacked painting from 2005. This master copy sold but a limited edition version will be released soon through Pretty In Plastic. Check out more opening photos […]
Since last year when we first learned of JR’s (interviewed) photobooth truck in Japan, the mobile unit has made its way to many different locales (including New York’s Time Square) spreading his Inside Out love. The truck has now traveled to Los Angeles and is currently located at 7600 Beverly Blvd until 7 pm tonight if you want to get your photo taken and participate. For future locations (next stop is Las Vegas) you can follow the plans on their website or Instagram. Discuss JR here.

Our friend Kamea Hadar, artist and one of the lead directors of the annual POW WOW event in Hawaii, will be opening a show next week at Cukui in San Jose, California. Entitled Face Value, the new canvas paintings continues his dynamic exploration of the human form. As with much of his work, there are subtle cultural references that come from his roots in the Aloha State that can be seen when one looks closely. The opening is on August 16th from 7-10 pm – […]

Philly-based painter, Jim Houser, recently worked on an indoors mural at Elixr Coffee in Philadelphia, as a part of their art program. While his works are showing in couple of group shows at the moment, Jim worked on his piece for couple of days, painting an image based on a small family portrait that is hanging in his son’s room. Using his signature palette of colors, and straight, very graphic lines and imagery, the piece has three birds in a peaceful, loving hug. Elixr plans to commission two indoor and […]
British painter Carl Cashman opened his debut solo show Every Time I close My Eyes, All I See Is This at Breeze Block Gallery in Portland, OR (previewed) on August 1st. The show was a massive success for the young artist, and out of 42 pieces he prepared for this show, only one is left unsold at the moment of writing this article. His strongest body of work so far was obviously working well with a much wider audience besides local art lovers, because the day after the opening only 7 […]
Tomorrow night at CHG Circa, fans can attend the opening of Luke Chueh’s (featured) newest show in Culver City. Featuring mostly new works from the Los Angeles-based painter, Random Acts Of Sadness will include pieces that place his cast of animal characters in unfortunate situations (including more from his You Are What You Eat series – see tiger & bear), rendered in his signature style. Oftentimes, the true meaning of the paintings will more clearly reveal themselves when examining the titles as Chueh has a penchant for clever wordplay, […]
Our latest interview is with artist Adam Feibelman (aka Adam 5100), who hails from New Mexico & has been working in San Francisco for the past sixteen years. His most common medium and technique involves enamel paintings utilizing stencils & stitched paper stencil collages. Adam has a solo exhibition opening tomorrow night at San Francisco’s Guerrero Gallery, so AM enlisted his peer & friend Andrew Schoultz to find out a little more about Adam (including a commission for the new 49ers stadium). Take a look at […]
After recently gifting San Francisco with a new mural, Nychos has headed to the other coast for a showing in New York. Silly Slicesophy will open Friday night (August 9th) in Brooklyn at the Mighty Tanaka. As referred to in the title, the Austrian artist will be taking his knife to classic Disney characters (like Mickey above), and dissecting them in a style he often uses on the streets. Speaking of which, he just painted a new killer whale piece for his fans in NY (seen below). Photo […]
