Last week, Antony Micallef’s (interviewed) show featuring his ongoing Head series opened at The Outsiders in London. The gifted painter put ten examples of his abstract gestural works on display and collectively named the exhibition A Little Piece of Me, an apt term seeing as these works are somewhat self-portraits and an integral part of his work process even when creating his larger works. The Armory Art Show (here & here) may be the flagship event of Armory Week in New York, but the most prestigious title this year goes to another. The ADAA Art Show held at the Park Avenue Armory (covered) was a smaller, but more selective fair. Like a small jewelery box, this event drew some of the top galleries from around the nation. With only 72 booths, the fair offered an intimate viewing and a distinguished list of notables such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Wayne Thiebaud, […]

The paintings in the show bring you into a world put on the brink through corruption and violence by figures that are motivated by their own selfish needs. His color palette and use of dominating dark shadows show a window of what it feels like to let immorality rot away our society. Check out photos of opening night after the jump…

The latest mural by Bumblebee, part of his ongoing series highlighting the plight of children affected by homelessness, has gone up in Los Angeles.  Titled Somewhere I’d Rather Bee, it ostensibly depicts a boy playing in the streets, appearing to lounge away the day, just playing with his paper airplane.  However, the reality could be that the boy, laying on the side of the street,  is preoccupied with his imagination, dreaming about a place where his plane could possibly take him, away from his current […]

Last week, the Suzanne Geiss Company in New York presented their inaugural exhibition RAMMELLZEE: THE EQUATION. The late graffiti and performance artist’s work was heavily based on his various theories, especially his vision of battle between letters and their symbolic warfare against any standardizations enforced by the rules of the alphabet. Coming from this world he created and featured in this exhibition are the Letter Racers, spacecraft like sculptures created from found objects which represented the letters A to Z and hung stunningly from the […]
