Streets: “Watchmen” graffiti - Amped up fans or clever guerrilla marketing campaign?
The famous inquiry from the graphic novel turned movie “Watchmen” has been popping up in various cities throughout the world, including New York, Toronto, and across the pond in London.
Having seen the “Who watches the watchmen?” tag scrawled on the sides of buildings, across payphones, and even on the back of a truck, we doubt that the writers received permission to put the work up.
Is this the work of Comic-Con-going fans who can’t contain their excitement about tomorrow’s movie opening or is this a bold viral marketing campaign? We’ll let you decide.

I think it could be either or. If the corporation is responsible, I think it would have been on a much larger scale. Although, I think whether fans did it, or “fans” did it, it’s a little on the lame side, considering it took someone 24 years to get excited enough to spray that infamous query on walls and trucks, along with the anonymous lover silhouettes.
And Andrew, I think you may be thinking of the Sony PSP campaign that had artists painting graffiti-style people on public walls. That campaign was completely legal, because Sony got permission and paid for it.

Yeah… xbox, PSP… sorry, that was the one I was talking about… and it was SO lame. So transparent… look, we’re ‘hip’ we’re doing street art. Oi vey. That one just made me shake my head.
