AM recently attended The Hole Gallery’s latest show Postermat. The group exhibition was a little different than the typical group show because they went all retro with it. Imagine going back to your childhood and rummaging through mall shops for your favorite posters of sports, rockbands, singers or even comic books – almost everyone had a cheap but cool poster that was maybe mass produced, but meant the world to us.

In the same spirit, the good folks at the Hole and Levi’s, got together an all star roster of artists such as Aaron Bondaroff, Alison Schulnick, Andrew Jeffrey Wright, Andrew Kuo, Ara Peterson, ARE Weapons, Aurel Schmidt, Assume Vivid Astro Focus, Angeline Rivas, Alex Gartenfeld – and that is just the A’s! – Barry McGee, Clare Rojas, Brad Kahlhamer, Kembra Pfahler, Bruce LaBruce, Dave Schubert, Dearrraindrop, Evan Gruzis, Gavin McInnes, Opening Ceremony, Jack Pierson, Jade Berreau, Keegan McHargue, Kunle Martins, Patrick Griffin, Maripol, Mat Brinkman, Robert Lazzarini, Shepard Fairey, Xylor Jane, Hanah Liden, Yoko Ono, Friends With You, Futura, Erik Foss and Terence Koh to create limited edition (of 50) posters to get on collector’s walls. Lines formed early as people relished the chance to get name brand artists for just $75. For those of you who won’t be in town before the show ends Jan 15th, you can buy your poster here.
