For those in Hong Kong, we are excited to announce our first ever curatorial project to be hosted by the Above Second Gallery at the end of next month. East West Connect will feature artists who hail from an Asian background and/or those who have utilized imagery inspired by the Far East in the past. Themes to be explored include ideas of identity for those who have dual cultural allegiances, melding and fusion of artistic influences, and the discussion of the work when brought into local context when comparing audiences in the East and West.
Those who have graciously agreed to create originals for the show are all artists we have featured here on AM regularly and represent the wide range of art that we cover. Included in the lineup are Luke Chueh, Faile, Shepard Fairey, Evah Fan, Stella Im Hultberg, Tat Ito, Akino Kondoh, Travis Louie, Tomokazu Matsuyama, Brendan Monroe, Edwin Ushiro, Nick Walker, and Yoskay Yamamoto, most of whom haven’t had the opportunity to share their work yet with fans in Hong Kong before.
Several of us here from the Arrested Motion crew will be there on opening night, November 25th (6-10pm), so make sure you stop by to chat and to enjoy some great art if you are in the area. To RSVP or to add your name on the preview list, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
