With stunning views of the Hong Kong harbor and skyline in the background, the third installment of the Asia Top Gallery Hotel Art Fair (a rather cumbersome name that surprisingly isn’t an acronym) opened last weekend at the Grand Hyatt. Last we wrote about of filmaker and versatile artist David Lynch, he was collaborating with musical acts Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse on projects at Michael Kohn Gallery and with Danger Mouse again at Art Basel Week. Armory Week ’10: First Look at The Armory Show

We had a chance to take a first look at this year’s enormous Armory Show, which officially opened in NYC yesterday. After spending most of the afternoon, we still felt like we had rushed through the contemporary half of the fair shown on Pier 94, and we didn’t even get to Pier 92, the other half which focuses on modern art. When we visited Thinkspace a couple weeks ago to check out Damon Soule’s solo show, we also took in the “Fresh” group show in the project room. The appropriately named show featured some new young talent on the Silverlake gallery’s roster including Linnea Strid (seen above), Josie Morway, and Jacub Gagnon among others. Last time we saw Clare Rojas, she was showing with Lydia Fong (aka Barry McGee) and Andrew Jeffrey Wright at New Image Art. She currently has a show in the UK at the Ikon Gallery entitled “We They, We They” which will be running until the March 21st. Stop by if you are in the area as it looks like the “Mission School” artist has put together a pretty fantastic installation with her folk-inspired art including her signature painted banjos. Benefit: “Idea for the Here and Now” @ Fountain Fair

Christina Ray Gallery (formerly Glowlab) and Fountain Art Fair are behind an unique group exhibition to benefit Transformazium, an emerging collaborative arts center in Braddock, Pennsylvania.
