We haven’t heard much from Armsrock (interviewed) since his light-infused showing in Vienna earlier this year. There’s a good reason for that as the Danish street artist has been focused on building an important new body of work for his show at the Vejle Museum of Art in his native country. The large soulful paintings appear to be some of his best to date and we look forward to seeing the full results of his hard work come the September 3rd opening of The Impossible Society. […]

Take a look at this off-the-wall video as a man takes an interactive stop-motion journey through the Art in the Streets exhibition that recently closed. The film was directed by brothers Mark Osborne and Kent Osborne and was made in collaboration with Levi’s Film Workshop (also see Swoon & Neck Face) and Happy Product. Shepard Fairey and his mural attacked in Copenhagen

As you know, Shepard Fairey’s (featured) was just in Copenhagen for his show at V1 Gallery (covered). We had privately been told by multiple sources that him and Romeo Trinidad of OBEY Clothing had been attacked while in town, but didn’t want to write about it until there was official word released (which just happened). Suffice it to say, it was a complicated situation in part perpetuated by misinformation in the press surrounding the first mural in a series of murals he did on the streets. […]

El Mac – “Portrait of a Dying Cockroach” @ Carhartt Gallery

A cockroach is a rather unusual subject for a painting when compared to El Mac’s usual repertoire although he has a pretty good story behind it. The LA-based spray paint savant decided to make it the centerpiece of his installation for the Public Provocations show at the Carhartt Gallery that ran parallel to most recent Art Basel fair in Switzerland. The large painting must have been an eye-opener to attendees as he was told there are no cockroaches in Switzerland. More photos after the jump…

Banksy – “The Antics Roadshow” TV Special

After his foray into films, it looks like Banksy will also begin dabbling in TV programming as he continues to use the media to spread his message. This Saturday, August 13th (10:45 pm local time), UK audiences will be able to catch The Antics Roadshow on Channel 4 as Mr. B charts the “history of behaving badly in public including the antics of anarchists, activists, and attention seeking eccentrics.” The show will be available online afterwards for those who miss it. This coming weekend, the duo known as Dabs Myla will present their latest solo exhibit over at Culver City’s Thinkspace Gallery. Titled The Best of Times, the show promises to deliver on their best work up to date which mainly focuses on their recent time spent across the great state of California. Copenhagen has been a pretty popular destination for international artists recently. After only recently been gifted multiple murals from Shepard Fairey’s (featured), who was in town for his solo show (covered), renowned graffiti king COPE2 arrived to paint his famous “bubble” tags on an adjacent wall next to one of Shep’s pieces. Congratulations to contributing photographer Brandon Shigeta as his ARTCUBE installation for Little Tokyo Design Week (LTDW) was a smashing success. In fact, Brandon’s concept was chosen as the winner of this year’s Golden Astro Boy award award.
