Upcoming: Andy Kehoe – “Fantastical Romanticism” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

On June 25th, a solo show from Andy Kehoe will open at New York’s Jonathan LeVine Gallery. The new body of work from the Pittsburgh-based artist entitled Fantastical Romanticism has been in-progress for at least a year now so we are anxious to see what new ideas he has been working on. Those who attend the opening can expect to see more of his mystical creatures in Autumn-tinged natural settings, painted with a technique that gives the work dimensionality. Discuss Andy Kehoe here.

Openings: Andy Kehoe – “Inner Mystic” @ Roq la Rue

It’s been a few years since Andy Kehoe’s last show at Roq la Rue, but to say he’s been busy would be an understatement. With several shows since then, the Pittsburgh-based painter continues to hone his skills and evolve as an artist. Woodland animals and anthropomorphized creatures are a mainstay in his work, but his use of resin has really raised the level of dimension, quite literally.  Layers of clear resin are poured into a sealed frame, with each layer painted in a unique fashion, making […]

Previews: Andy Kehoe – “Inner Mystic” @ Roq La Rue

Tomorrow night (June 5th), Roq La Rue in Seattle will be opening a solo show from Andy Kehoe entitled Inner Mystic. The paintings as well as some of the more sculptural & dimensional pieces he has been working on of late all feature his signature autumn hues, and see his woodland creatures continue their adventures whether they be by the light of day or by moonlight. He describes his new series by saying “I love creating a world steeped in mystery and mysticism, and it’s really up […]

Openings: Andy Kehoe – “Luminous Reverie” @ Jonathan LeVine

Andy Kehoe recently returned to New York for his third solo show with Jonathan LeVine Gallery. Entitled Luminous Reverie, this show explores the idea of experiencing a lucid moment while drifting along in a daydream. We enjoyed the works, which continued the new direction that he premiered during a show in Los Angeles last year (covered). Again, Kehoe explores the technique of painting layers upon layers of resin and creating a natural 3-D visual element for the viewers to enjoy. This show will be up until […]

Tomorrow night (May 18th) in New York, Andy Kehoe returns for his third solo show with Jonathan LeVine Gallery with new works collectively entitled Luminous Reverie. Continuing a new process (sculpted elements mixed in with poured resin and paint) first revealed to us during a show in Los Angeles last year (covered), the Pittsburgh-based painter has given his human-animal hybrid figures and forested backgrounds new life. The title of the show refers to “the idea of experiencing clarity of vision when lost in a daydream,” certainly something that can be imagined […]

Openings: Andy Kehoe – “Into The Depths” @ Thinkspace

Last weekend, the Andy Kehoe unveiled a new selection of work featuring a new technique of layering his paintings with resin (and even some local flora). Despite the use of a new medium, Into The Depths at Thinkspace Gallery still highlights the reasons why the Pittsburgh-based painter is popular with his fans – autumnal imagery and colors, mysterious characters, and imaginative backgrounds. This added three-dimensional element just elevates the work to the next level and must be seen in person to be fully appreciated. Photo credit: ©Carlos Gonzalez. Discuss this […]

Tomorrow night (July 7th) sees Andy Kehoe returning to Thinkspace Gallery for another solo show, but he has brought a new body of work that explores a new medium and technique with him this time. Utilizing resin to create a more layered and three-dimensional look, the early images look amazing and AM can’t wait to see these in person. The same whimsical characters, autumnal imagery, imaginative backgrounds, and palette are still present but they now seem to have more depth and come alive with the new look. Stop by […]
