Openings: POW Shop Opens Its Doors

Pictures On Walls (POW) opened a new shop-cum-gallery in London last week and AM dropped in to take a look around at what goodies might be on offer. Rather than being just a print shop, we were pleasantly surprised to find some real gems of hand worked prints plus original works for sale by some of our favourites; including a Banksy canvas, a huge Stephen Powers piece on acrylic, original work from Kill Pixie and Blu plus a fantastic collection of work from the prolific [...]

Openings: 15 Years of New Image Art

Last night’s opening for “15 Years of New Image Art” (previewed here and here) reaffirmed why New Image Art is one of the primary driving forces in the alternative/low-brow/street art scene. The show was everything we thought it would be and more – great art, an energetic crowd, and non-stop entertainment. AM congratulates Marsea Goldberg and the entire New Image Art team on an amazing fifteen years! See all the artwork and photos from the opening after the jump.

Setup: 15 Years of New Image Art

Tonight marks the opening of New Image Art’s anniversary show “15 Years of New Image Art” (previewed). AM swung by the gallery yesterday to check out the progress of the installation. While we were there, Judith Supine was putting on the finishing touches to his 18′x16′ kinetic sculpture and Neck Face was customizing a motorcycle in his uniquely raw style. In you’re in Los Angeles, don’t miss this milestone event! There are amazing pieces on hand from such notables as Aiko, Anthony Lister, Antonio Diaz, [...]

Openings: Date Farmers @ New Image Art

On a chilly night in Los Angeles, The Date Farmers and DJ Alf Alpha kept things muy caliente at New Image Art with their latest body of work, “Tell Them Willy Boy Was Here,” in the main space and, “The Cat House,” in the gallery’s project room. Working with a mixture of found materials, from Cracker Jack boxes, flattened coffee cans, to discarded signs, these items present a beautifully raw and unrefined canvas for The Date Farmers’ special touch of paint and mixed media objects. [...]
