A couple weekends ago when AM attended the opening of Nate Frizzell’s solo show in Chinatown, we also stopped by the adjacent POVevolving Gallery to check out Derek Albeck’s newest work. The show entitled Mysterious Strangers featured a mix of work including some unique hard to describe photographic transfers rendered in powdered graphite as well as large two panel self-portrait. Last Thursday night, AM visited the Fecal Face Dot Gallery’s opening of their latest show – “The Fool”. Combining the talents of two LA artists, Marco Zamora and Derek Albeck, “The Fool” is a perfectly curated and highly cohesive exposition of two wonderfully cohesive styles. Utilizing muted subjects, bright splashes of color, and the occasional reflective surface, “The Fool” is an intriguing look at a variety of subjects, from society’s downtrodden to the viewer themselves. Opening photos after the jump.

The show opens tonight, April 1st, at the Fecal Face Dot Gallery in SF so we look forward to seeing how this body of work turns out. Some additional preview images after the jump…

All proceeds from the event went directly to support Justin’s recovery from a successful bone marrow transplant after a relapse of lukemia. The big contributor of the evening was Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Paul Weitz, who went […]
