Brooklyn-based artist Ellis Gallagher (interviewed) is following up his New York City solo exhibition at Mighty Tanaka (teased) in January with a solo at Adjust Gallery in Miami’s Wynwood District on April 9. Entitled Indelibly Ephemeral, the show will feature photography, screenprints, originals and live art presentations. Preview: Armory Week ’11 – Rebaroque Artist Series Sound Wall @ Scope New York

A special project taking place at this year’s Scope New York art fair is the Rebaroque Artist Series Sound Wall, a collaborative audio/visual installation featuring Rebaroque sound panels—art and design objects created from vintage fabrics and frames that include speakers through which you can play sound or music from an iPod or other device. It looks like our friend Ellis Gallagher’s (interviewed) is setting up for his latest show Temporarily Permanent, a title that certainly describes the state of street art, especially when mostly done with chalk in his case. Bringing life to a row of twelve empty storefronts in New York, theÂ â€œWilloughby Windowsâ€ (previewed) community beautification project presented byÂ Ad Hoc Art in conjunction with the MetroTech Business Improvement District, was a success by all accounts. The storefronts, located at 89 to 106 Willoughby Street in Brooklyn, included participation fromÂ artists Chris Stain,Â Ellis G. (interviewed),Â Gaia, Logan Hicks (interviewed),Â Dennis McNett,Â Michael De Feo,Â Josh MacPhee andÂ more. Twelve different storefronts from 89 to 106 Willoughby Street in Brooklyn are being transformed by over fifteen artists as part of the “Willoughby Windows” project. Presented by Ad Hoc Art in conjunction with the MetroTech Business Improvement District, the exhibition showcases the beautification project in place to bring life to the twelve empty storefronts on this block. This past weekend, Logan Hicks and Broken Crow (Mike Fitzsimmons & John Grider) opened their “drive-by” show “Broken Horse” for a packed Brooklyn house. Held in a unique venue that once housed the Hamilton Savings & Loan, the art was really the draw.
