Openings: “Otherworld” Group Show @ Roq la Rue

Roq la Rue recently employed the help of many amazing artists to fill the walls for their Otherworld group show. Openings: Kris Lewis @ David B. Smith Gallery

Last week, Kris Lewis (interviewed) returned (see 2011 & 2009) for a new showing at the David B. Smith Gallery in Denver. The exhibition included a series of paintings featuring his exquisite portraiture which shows the California-based artist’s reverence for the old masters as well as his technical prowess. Add to that a gift for the emotive touch as well as creating works that really connect with the viewer and you have something special. The show runs through the end of the month, so definitely stop by if you are in the area. Photo […]

Each piece of […]

Update: Space//Form Group Exhibition @ Breeze Block Gallery

One of the most interesting things about curating a group exhibition of over 100 artists is getting to see behind the scenes as the artists develop their work for the show (Chloe Early seen above). Updates come constantly as the participants share their excitement about creating work for the show, and getting to see  some of the creative process that goes into the work is always a pleasure. Space//Form opens in just a couple of weeks time now in Portland at Breeze Block Gallery and here […]

The group exhibition brings together over 100 young contemporary artists, and opens 6th September at Portland’s Breeze Block Gallery. Curator, Sven Davis, has worked in architecture for over 20 years, so the thematic center of the exhibition is close to his heart as Space//Form centers around notions of the architectural landscape. Each of the […]

Upcoming: Kris Lewis @ David B. Smith Gallery

Coming up in October, the David B. Smith Gallery will be hosting a new solo exhibition from Kris Lewis (interviewed). If his previous shows (see 2011 & 2009) at the Denver showspace are any indication, the California-based artist will be bringing a selection of enchanting oil paintings with him. His work bely a reverence for the old masters mixed with a modern quality as well as a touch of symbolism, all which combine for intriguing portraits. The show opens on October 19th.
