Preview: “Lush Life” Group Show @ Roq La Rue

Another great group show is opening this Friday, May 8th in Seattle at Roq La Rue gallery.Â The show entitled “Lush Life” mixes pieces from some familiar “old-school” artists with some promising new faces.Â We preview some of the paintings after the jump, including pieces from Joe Sorren (seen above), Chris Berens, Mia Araujo, Martin Wittfooth, Kukula, Tin and Glenn Barr.

“Overdose” (previewed) opened this past Saturday at Copro Gallery in Santa Monica. Upon entering the gallery, you will notice several great pieces from “Overdose” on display in the gallery’s front room. The majority of the exhibition’s body of work is displayed in the gallery’s main room. A table was set up over in the smaller wing of the gallery for the Hi-Fructose Collected Edition 1 book signing. After their highly successful group show last year, Hi-Fructose is back again with another exhibition, this time titled “Overdose,” opening April 4th at Copro Gallery.Â With a increasingly more respected reputation as one of the best publications in the scene, they been able to assemble a pretty amazing lineup.Â Sure to be one of the showstoppers is this huge 50 x 50 inch Chris Berens piece seen above.Â See some other preview pics as well as the full lineup after the jump.

Openings: Movers and Shakers @ POV Evolving

“Movers and Shakers” (previewed) opened on Valentine’s Day in Los Angeles’ Chinatown at POV Evolving Gallery and AM dropped by to check it out. Some of the participating artists who also dropped by included Buff Monster, Johnny “KMNDZ” Rodriguez, Mia, and Tessar Lo, among others. Check out photos of the opening after the jump!

Rounding up AM‘s whirlwind gallery tour of LA last weekend was Copronason’s show of Kukula, Tin, and Sas Christian. The Santa Monica gallery was busy with three appealing artists at its opening this past Saturday. As usual, Sas Christian presented a quality, not quantity body of work. The preview images for Kukula’s show “Princess Express” (previously teased) which opens on November 8th at Copronason are now online.Â You really get a feeling that her work has matured as you look through her paintings.Â Her details, “story-telling,” and composition really look to have taken a step up while maintining some of the edginess from before (bleeding hearts, injured animals, scratch marks, suggestive outfits). Looking forward to this show at Thinkspace on November 7th not only because Audrey Kawasaki is in it, but also because she is curating it. It seems that artist curated group shows (others that come to mind include Luke Chueh and Travis Louie) usually include some very good names from their genre for some obvious reasons.
