Last week, AM stopped by the Lazarides (Rathbone Place) gallery space in London as the Faile Collective (featured) unveiled a new body of work. Fragments of Faile included some strong new mixed block pieces that fans of the Patricks have been accustomed to, but what they had been keeping under wraps until shortly before the opening was a new direction in their creative output. Today, Faile’s (featured) latest exhibition Fragments of Faile will be revealed at London’s Lazarides Rathbone gallery space. As mentioned in our earlier teaser, Antony Micallef’s (interviewed) long awaited UK solo at Lazarides’ Rathbone Place is upon us with the public opening scheduled for tomorrow, September 8th. The show Happy, Deep Inside My Heart comprises of fresh works created by the the UK-based artist’s signature strokes and smudges. It’s been a little while since 2009’s Lazarus Rising at Elms Lesters Painting Rooms, the last UK solo exhibition by Ron English. The first UK solo show by LA-based Sage Vaughn (referred to in early May) opened a few weeks back at Lazarides Gallery in London with a title ostensibly borrowed from the 1980 play by Mark Medoff or its subsequent film adaptation. Children of a Lesser God, the first UK solo show by Los Angeles-based artist Sage Vaughn opens today at Lazarides Gallery in London. AM visited the artist’s studio last year as he prepared for both this exhibition and the release of hand-painted multiples — the latter screenprinted by Modern Multiples and painted with watercolours. Vaughn’s sunlit space seemed like the ideal environment for working.
