Openings: “20 Years Under the Influence of Juxtapoz” @ LAMAG

Last weekend in Los Angeles, alongside Robert Williams’ amazing new exhibition (covered), a group show celebrating 20 years of Juxtapoz also opened to the public. Curated by Andrew Hosner from Thinkspace and Gary Pressman from Copro Gallery, the showing featured artists, emerging and established, who have graced the pages of the trailblazing magazine. Previews: Marco Mazzoni – “Immune” @ Thinkspace Gallery

Marco Mazzoni will be opening his first solo exhibition with Thinkspace gallery on Saturday, November 8th. Titled Immune, this show will introduce pencil on paper works that are strongly inspired by Sardinian myths and tradition, and in this particular case, by a human’s endurance of pain. Previews: Marco Mazzoni – “White Days” @ Gallery B15 (Copenhagen)

Gallery B15 in Copenhagen, Denmark, will open a solo show by Italian artist, Marco Mazzoni, on the 27th of February. There is an old saying that the window to your soul is through the eyes. Marco Mazonni has capatilized on this, by excluding them from his brilliant color pencil drawings. The exclusion mystifies and intrigues, while the surrounding plants, flowers, and familiar animals try to ease our reactions.  Naturama features three larger works and a bounty of smaller pieces on moleskin paper, giving us a detailed look into Mazzoni’s animal kingdom. On November 7th, Marco Mazzoni is presenting his newest body of work alongside Lindsey Carr at the Roq La Rue gallery in Seattle. Openings: Marco Mazzoni – “Animanera” @ Jonathan Levine

Italian artist Marco Mazzoni recently crossed the pond to exhibit at Jonathan LeVine Gallery. Entitled Animanera (Italian for “black soul”), this show explores the dark themes of social ailments currently plaguing his home country of Italy. Utilizing his signature style of combining organic shapes & textures with chiaroscuro contrasts in light and shadow, Marco created ten works of amazing color pencil works that balances portrait and still life. Italian artist and illustrator Marco Mazzoni opened a solo show last night with Galleria Patricia Armocida in Milan, Italy. As we mentioned in the preview for this show, this is Marco’s 1st solo show in a city where he has been working and living in for years.
