There is an old saying that the window to your soul is through the eyes. Marco Mazonni has capatilized on this, by excluding them from his brilliant color pencil drawings. On November 7th, Marco Mazzoni is presenting his newest body of work alongside Lindsey Carr at the Roq La Rue gallery in Seattle. Italian artist Marco Mazzoni recently crossed the pond to exhibit at Jonathan LeVine Gallery. Entitled Animanera (Italian for “black soul”), this show explores the dark themes of social ailments currently plaguing his home country of Italy. Utilizing his signature style of combining organic shapes & textures with chiaroscuro contrasts in light and shadow, Marco created ten works of amazing color pencil works that balances portrait and still life. Italian artist and illustrator Marco Mazzoni opened a solo show last night with Galleria Patricia Armocida in Milan, Italy. As we mentioned in the preview for this show, this is Marco’s 1st solo show in a city where he has been working and living in for years. The I’ll Love You ‘Til The End of the World group show opened at Roq La Rue this past Friday to a large crowd which simultaneously got to see some great art and escaped the freezing temperatures outside. This Friday night (October 12th), the Roq La Rue Gallery will be welcoming in new works from Italian painter Marco Mazzoni in an exhibition entitled River of Milk. Rendered completely in layered colored pencil, his typical facial portraits are encircled by sumptuous flora and fauna bursting with color and complexity. It looks like for his first solo in the United States, he has also included some smaller works of creatures hybrids from his The Encyclopedia of Impossible Animals series.
