ArtPadSF hosted its second annual boutique art fair over the weekend, which coincides with ArtMrkt and SFFAF. Unlike your traditional art fair with booths, this one takes over the Phoenix Hotel in the heart of the Tenderloin District in San Francisco with each gallery taking up their own room in the hotel, which gives a more laid-back pop-up gallery vibe. Ladyboy, a solo exhibition by collagist Judith Supine, opens at New Image Art in West Hollywood on Wednesday, 13 April. It’s already been three years since the 2008 Dirt Mansion installation — the artist’s first solo effort at English Kills Art Gallery in Brooklyn. The art of Cleon Peterson has never been for the fainthearted. Like Pieter Bruegel the Elder‘s painting The Triumph of Death, his unapologetic, graphic depictions of acts of brutality are both disquieting and strangely captivating. Daybreak is the artist’s latest solo show opening this Saturday, November 20th at New Image Art Gallery. New Image Art packed the house last night with their “American Realities” group show featuring the work of Barry McGee, working under the pseudonym Lydia Fong, his wife Clare Rojas, and their long-time friend and collaborator Andrew Jeffrey Wright.
