Openings: Hueless @ Mallick Williams & Co.

We recently attended the opening of Hueless, a group show of black and white works at Malick Williams & Co. Although the exhibition may have lacked color, it certainly did not lack artistry, with an exciting selection of monochromatic pieces by the likes of D Face, Shepard Fairey, Erik Haze, Curtis Kulig, Pete Watts and Skullphone. The show, most likely unofficially, also extended beyond the walls of the gallery, with several street pieces popping up on the adjacent blocks. Take a look at all our [...]

Openings: “TRANSFORM” @ Sho Gallery

Studio Visit: Pete Watts

Brooklyn-based artist Pete Watts was nice enough to invite AM to come by his Greenpoint studio recently to check out what he’s been working on as of late. We first had the pleasure of seeing the Rhode Island School of Design graduate’s work at Joshua Liner Gallery’s 2010 summer group show (covered), and were certainly impressed by the intricately detailed graphite-drawn environments. Watts obsessively researches interesting natural and man-made structures, and then unifies specific aspects of each into images that are at once architectural, geological [...]

Preview: “Summer Group Show” @ Joshua Liner Gallery

August in NYC is not typically the time to see great new art, as galleries tend to schedule group shows in order not to waste their A material on the few gallery goers left in town instead of summering in the Hamptons. Past experience, however, has shown us that the Joshua Liner Gallery defies expectations with their summer show, taking the opportunity to set the stage for their upcoming season, by exhibiting a strong selection of their regular roster and introducing us to a few [...]
