Following up on his sold out Au Jus, Triumph, and Anonymous collaborations with the 1849 Wine, SABER (interviewed) recently released another bottle he designed for the wine company. Iris is of a 2013 vintage, a pinot noir “rich with dark cherry aromas accented with notes of violets and spice, supported by toast and the faint smoke from the barrel.” The label features imagery taken from the graffiti artist’s Tool of Dissent painting, a burst of colors created in his distinctive urban calligraphy. The first 100 fans who purchase a bottle will […]

Inspired by some recent paintings (example above) he has been working on called the “Refulgent” series, SABER (interviewed) has recently released some color studies on paper (seen below) for purchase on his website. These pieces on textured water color paper were created using spraypaint, acrylic, charcoal pencil, and oil stick and help loosen the Los Angeles-based graffiti artist up before he tackles the larger paintings like the one seen above. Head over here to add one to your collection if you are interested. Discuss Saber here.
Earlier this month, Chandran Gallery in San Francisco opened a show curated by Andrew Schoultz entitled Major Work. The locally-based artist carefully selected a roster of participants that included himself, Alicia McCarthy, Aaron Noble, Kelsey Brookes, Revok, James Marshall (Dalek), Sam Friedman, Eric Yahnker, Mark Dean Veca, Saber, Hilary Pecis, Tim Biskup, Eric White, and Allison Schulnik. The premise behind the exhibition was for each artist to contribute a large-scale piece that they felt capture the essence of their work. The resulting show was quite stunning, as evidenced by […]
