Streets: Pejac (Hong Kong)

We just received these photos of new works by Pejac created few days ago in Hong Kong. The artist who is known for his witty concepts recently spent a few days in a former British colony leaving several diverse works throughout the city. Tackling the problems of overpopulation and limited rights, the “Umbrella Revolution” as well as Chinese tradition, most of the works were very small in scale but large in their message. This once again shows the strength of public art in it’s most basic form. Re-thinker […]

Streets: World Roundup (Apr 28 – May 18)

It’s time for another edition of our Streets World Roundup feature. First up is a new High Line billboard featuring the work of Ed Ruscha. The influential American artist joins many others before him who have had their art displayed on the high profile pedestrian walkway in New York City. Other notable street art comes from: Seth Globepainter – Italy, Inti – Tahiti, Steve Powers – Belgium, ROA – Spain, Agostino Iacurci – Italy, 2501 – Italy, How & Nosm – Hong Kong, Aryz – […]

Coachella Walls ’14 / Streets: El Mac

Yesterday, we headed down to Coachella, not the annual music and arts festival, but to the city itself. Despite the associated name of the huge yearly revenue source nearby, the taxes go to the city of Indio with the actual city of Coachella remaining a poor farming community. This is what the Date Farmers, who call the area their home, and curator Medvin Sobio are seeking to change with the Coachella Walls project. First up, we want to share with you what El Mac painted in the historic Pueblo Viejo area of the […]

Streets: Banksy – “Better Out Than In” (New York) – Day 19, 20, 21

After we visited his literal outdoor gallery installation last Friday, Banksy continued his assault on the streets of New York over the weekend. Adding a video in Staten Island (below) that completed his tour of all five boroughs, Mr. B also created a clever strength tester stencil piece (below) utilizing existing elements, and a new one in South Bronx to start your Monday off (above). Discuss Banksy here.

Streets: World Roundup (July 15 – 21)

It’s been a while since we had a streets round up here on AM so we have some catching up to do. Leading off things for recent street activity around the world is this new mural (photo via SAN) from Conor Harrington (interviewed) in Rochester, New York. The wall was painted for the ongoing WALL\THERAPY festival and features the UK-based painters signature mix of colonialism, abstraction, and photorealism. Other notable murals include work from: Proembrion – Poland (source), Ericailcane x Bastardilla – Italy (source), Herbert Baglione x SAN […]

Streets: ROA (South Africa)

Following the opening of his latest solo show in San Francisco (covered), prolific traveler and street artist ROA has landed in South Africa for ART JOBURG. Presented by adidas Originals, the month long project brings in five muralists (also including Remed, Steve “ESPO” Powers, Falko, and Cameron Platter) into the heart of Maboneng Precinct in Johannesburg’s central art district for large-scale public art. For his part, the Belgium-based ROA painted his signature animals, indigenous to the location (like he did in Australia), and threw them up on the side of […]

Streets: Tanker Mural Collaboration (Copenhagen)

Artists Simon Hjermind Jensen, Theis Wendt, Anders Schmidt and Silas Inoue recently completed a pretty sweet collaboration mural in Odinsgade, Copenhagen featuring a giant tanker. Utilizing architectural elements like the chimney as well as existing graffiti, the grounded ship is a striking addition to the capital of Denmark. Take a look at more details as well as a wider view below…

Update / Streets: Interesni Kazki

Even though they typically combine their artistic powers (like for their their solo in Los Angeles at the end of 2011) to produce their colorful and surreal works, Ukrainian duro Interesni Kazki split up for some recent street murals at different sides of the Atlantic. While Waone (above) was in Lublin, Poland for the Europejska Fundacja Kultury Miejskiej Festival, Aec (below) was in Mexico for some individual work as well as collaborations with Saner and Sego. Discuss Interesni Kazki here.

Streets: Conor Harrington (Ireland) Part III

For this trip back to his home country, Conor Harrington (interviewed) has painted his third (see first & second) and final piece in an abandoned Georgian mansion in the Belfast city centre. Three must be his lucky number because he also produced the same amount of murals when he was in Ireland (here, here, & here) last summer. Titled the Dilapidated Swordsman, this wall was located in the stairwell and features Harrington’s distinctive colonial style. Discuss Conor Harrington here.

Streets: Sheffield Instagram Round-Up

AM’s regular Instagrammer SazaJane is taking a break this week from her London street art round-up, so as we were in Sheffield this weekend for Kid Acne’s opening, we bring you a northern version. We checked out some of the classic Acne slogan based murals that make up part of the Sheffield scenery, along with pieces, throwies and tags by Ema, D-Rot, Phlegm, Motfu, Dscreet and Osk amongst others. Take a look at more pics after the jump.
