Streets: Shepard Fairey – “Earth Crisis” @ Eiffel Tower (Paris)

Earlier today, Shepard Fairey (featured) revealed his latest installation (arranged by Gallery Itinerrance) that he entitled Earth Crisis, a giant sphere suspended between the first and second floor of the Eiffel Tower. The piece meant to draw attention to the global environmental crisis will be on view from November 20-26th and is timed to coincide with the World Conference on climate change COP21. Streets: Dotmasters // The Croydon Mural Project (London)

Recently in Croydon, Dotmasters took a couple weeks to finish two murals for the The Croydon Mural Project. Given two walls facing opposite of each other in the South London town, the British artist decided to continue his Toy Town series, first started years ago at Nuart in Stavanger, with a Ragdoll and Astroboy. Openings: Zachari Logan & Alessandra Maria & Joe Rudko – “Grotesques” & “Di Minores” & “Broken Image” @ Roq La Rue

Zachari Logan’s work has been seen here and there at Roq La Rue for a few years now, but Grotesques is his first solo show at the Seattle gallery. Using colored pencil and pastels, Logan blends plants and animals to create mutated hybrids of familiar species. While the delicate pencil and mylar pieces are framed, two of the pastel paintings are shown simply pinned to the wall. “Art Awakens” Star Wars Charity Auction

Last week, we shared with you the Art Awakens charity show put on in partnership with Disney, LucasFilm, Bad Robot over the weekend by Gallery1988 (West) featuring artwork inspired by the Star Wars universe. These have all now been put on eBay with the auctions ending in about seven days. Showing: Takashi Murakami -“Ensō” @ Kaikai Kiki Gallery

Currently on view through November 21st at the Kaikai Kiki Gallery in Tokyo is a show from Takashi Murakami entitled Ensō. Presented by Galerie Perrotin, the popup exhibition is planned to run concurrently with the Japanese artist’s 500 Arhats at the Mori Art Museum and continues his exploration on themes seen in Zen Buddhism. The Ensō (literally circle) symbolizes emptiness, unity and infinity, and you can see that the motif is used repeatedly in this new body of work. Previews: “Art Awakens” @ Gallery1988 (West)

Showing on November 14th and 15th at Gallery1988 (West) is one of their most anticipated shows ever – Art Awakens. Set to coincide of course with the release of The Force Awakens movie, the group show will feature work inspired by the Star Wars universe. Streets: D*Face – “Catrina” (Mexico City)

Last month in Mexico City, D*Face (interviewed) painted a mural for All City Canvas entitled Catrina, of course inspired by the “Day of the Dead” celebration. The piece located at Av. Cuauhtémoc 273 in the Roma neighborhood is the last mural of the year for the CC Global Series, made in collaboration with British Council Mexico as part of the Dual Year UKMX 2015. Openings: Brian Viveros – “Matador” @ Thinkspace Gallery

This past Saturday night, the “Dirtyland Troops” were out en masse for Brian Viveros’ sold-out solo exhibition entitled Matador at the Thinkspace Gallery in Culver City. Along with a new selection of works (seen in our earlier studio visit) that show a more elaborate detailing, fresh palette, and fusion of artistic concepts, the Riverside-based artists also revealed a large collaborative sculpt with Pretty In Plastic entitled Bullheaded and released of his first ever art book (The DirtyLand), which was published by the gallery.
