Openings: Nychos – “Translucent Fear” @ Kolly Gallery

A couple weeks ago, Translucent Fear, a new solo show from Nychos, opened at the Kolly Gallery in Zurich. The title of the exhibition references a new technique the Austrian artist has developed to continue his anatomical renderings by adding a layer of translucent skin to his subjects. Applied to both portraits as well as fierce creatures in combat, the x-ray vision of prolific street artist was in full effect in this new body of work. Discuss Nychos here.

Previews: Travis Louie – “Watch The Skies” @ Merry Karnowsky

Watch The Skies will continue Travis Louie’s (interviewed) longstanding collaboration with the Merry Karnowsky Gallery with another exhibition scheduled for November 14th at the Los Angeles showspace. Openings: JR – “Crossing” @ Lazarides Rathbone

Crossing, a solo featuring all new works from JR (interviewed) opened up on all three levels of Lazarides Rathbone in London a couple weeks ago. Consisting of large format photographs of his art from the streets, pasted wood pieces, color prints, as well as his signature wood mounted monochromatic paper pieces, the exhibition focuses in on two of the French photographer’s recent series of works – Les Bosquets and Unframed Ellis Island. Openings: Dabs Myla – “Before and Further” Popup (Los Angeles)

A couple weeks ago, Dabs Myla opened up an ambitious new exhibition at the Modernica factory property in Los Angeles entitled Before and Further. The title is appropriate as the artistic duo took things to the next level with an immersive installation featuring paintings, sculptures, ceramics, lighting, customized furniture, as well as murals covering the entire facade of the building. Tomokazu Matsuyama x Adam Wojcinski Tea Ceremony

A couple weekends ago, Tomokazu Matsuyama (interviewed) & Lesley Kehoe Galleries invited a small group of guests to his Brooklyn studio to participate in a formal tea gathering and to watch a Butoh performance. The unique setting featured a background of the Japanese artist’s paintings, juxtaposed with the skills of Australian born and Paris-based Ueda Sōko Ryū Tea Master and Butoh artist Adam Wojcinski. Recap: FIAC 2015

Over the weekend, the FIAC art fair opened their doors to the public at the Grand Palais in Paris. The 42nd edition of the annual event featured artwork presented by 173 galleries from 23 different countries. Parisians and visitors took advantage of their opportunity to peruse and add to their collections with this being the premiere art event in the country every year. Streets / Releases: Saber x Zes (Los Angeles) & Originals

Like they did in 2014 (covered), the AWR/MSK affiliated SABER (interviewed) and ZES recently collaborated on another impressive mural in Los Angeles, this time at the American Tea Room building. The piece in Downtown was made possible with special thanks to Montana Colors USA, The Seventh Letter, as well as Branded Arts and is another example of the locally-based writers’ synergistic artistic energy. Tilt – “Panic Room” (Bogota)

Earlier this month, we brought you a look at the collaborative installation from Ludo & Rero in Columbia for the BARCU Arts and Culture Festival. Fans of street art and graffiti will also be pleased to know The House of Urban Art in Bogota curated by Fabien Castanier also featured work from Tilt.
